Despite the early season turbulence Chelsea have been weathering, Enzo Maresca remains adamant that the club's problems aren't as dramatic as they seem through the public eye.
The Blues enter as overwhelming favourites in this contest and their new boss will be desperate to register his first win of the campaign, as well as getting the job done convincingly with his side facing four fixtures before September's international break.
Roma blitzed Servette 4-0 in the Europa League group stages last season, as did Slavia Prague to the same tune away from home. More recently, Braga outmuscled the Swiss club on their own patch after a goalless home draw, leaving plenty of reason to believe Chelsea should cruise to victory here.
The safety net of a first leg home tie allows Chelsea to rotate heavily, which they will, and we believe the Londoners will undoubtedly have enough quality to swat away their opponents and clear this handicap line.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, or Chelsea's 'teacher's pet' as he's been nicknamed by teammates around the training ground, is expected to get his first start after penning a five-year deal in July.
The 25-year-old was a second half sub in Sunday's 2-0 defeat to Man City, and like many Chelsea bodies, was unable to impose himself on the game at Stamford Bridge.
Thursday's play-off first leg is an immediate shot at redemption for the tempestuous Blues, or in Dewsbury-Hall's case, a first opportunity to impress.
Last season under Maresca at Leicester City, he bagged 12 goals and contributed 14 assists to help the Foxes secure the league title and promotion back to the promised land.
With an abundance of creativity in this squad, KDH can be one of several beneficiaries against Servette - and quotes of 12/5 for him to score seem somewhat generous given the position he'll be occupying if afforded a start.
