Chelsea v Tottenham Tips: Kane's creativity a factor that cannot be ignored

There’s a huge game in the Premier League on Sunday with Chelsea facing Tottenham at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho’s side go into the weekend on top of the pile ahead of Liverpool on goal difference and @AnthonyEadson has three plays for the game as part of our football tips on BettingOdds.com this weekend.
Christian Pulisic is the only doubt for Chelsea, with the American hoping to be available after a thigh injury. Toby Alderweireld will miss out for Spurs which could lead to a full Premier League debut for Joe Rodon at centre-back. Argentine pairing Giovani Lo Celso and Eirk Lamela are both a doubt after picking up knocks in training.
Chelsea are undefeated in 25 of their last 26 home games against Tottenham and are the bookmakers favourites for the win on Sunday, priced at 11/10 to do so. The draw is available to be backed at 5/2 with an away win for Spurs priced at 13/5, an implied probability of 28%.
Ben Chilwell 1+ shot on target - 1.5pts @ 13/5 Coral, 7/4 Betfair/Paddy Power
Harry Kane anytime assist - 1pt @ 9/2 Betfair / Paddy Power
Werner & Son 1+ shot on target, Hojbjerg & Chilwell to be carded - 0.25pts @ 40/1 Paddy Power
The first up in this trio of picks for Sunday’s game is Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell to have one or more shots on target, priced at 13/5 with Coral. That is currently that stand out top-price at the time of writing, with Betfair and Paddy next best-priced at 7/4. That may seem a little short for a left-back, however the former Leicester man has been superb when going forward this campaign and has spoken in interviews about how it’s something they have been working on with him coming in at the back post, often on the end of a Hakim Ziyech cross.
When it comes to shots on target this season the 23-year-old has registered at least one in all three Premier League games he has played at Stamford Bridge. In fact all five of Chilwell’s shots on target have come at home with him registering three in their last outing on home soil.
I’m predicting that Spurs will sit back in this game and look to hit Chelsea on the counter, just as they did in the win over Manchester City. This should allow Chelsea’s left-back plenty of time in the opposition’s half and with 13/5 on offer he looks one of the value plays this weekend.
Harry Kane’s numbers this season are borderline absurd with the talismanic Tottenham man producing world-class performances on a weekly basis at the moment. I’ve tipped him up to have an assist twice already this season for BettingOdds.com and he’s truly obliged on both occasions at 9/2 and most recently at 5/1 against Manchester City last week.
It’s nine assists in nine league games for Harry Kane in the 2020/21 campaign and if he carries at even half that rate this season he could be close to breaking the record of 20. This selection has landed in six of Spurs nine games this season and even though I think it will be a relatively low scoring affair at the Bridge, I don’t think we can write off Kane’s creativity. A player who looks to be at the centre of everything for Spurs at the moment I’m willing to go back in on another anytime assist at 9/2.
As always, I like to pick something out at a bit more of a price and this time at 40/1 I’ve opted for, Timo Werner and Son Heung-Min to both have one or more shots on target with both Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Ben Chilwell to be carded, available with Paddy Power.
Only Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently has more goals this season in the Premier League than Son Heung-Min who has nine in nine games. The Korean is averaging 1.3 shots on target per game and I think his running in behind will be the most likely chance of a Spurs goal on Sunday.
Timo Werner looks to be settling in at Chelsea and has proved his versatility over recent weeks playing in a system that allows Frank Lampard to play both the German and Tammy Abraham from the off. Werner has four league goals to his name this season and should also be on penalties if called upon. The 24-year-old averages over a shot on target per game this term (1.1) and I’m adding him into this 40/1 play.
The first of two players I’m fancying to be carded is Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. I’ve been impressed with the Danish midfielder at Spurs this season and he looks just the sort of player Jose Mourinho absolutely loves, a tough tackling no nonsense midfielder, and a vital chess piece in any successful Mourinho side. Hojbjerg has two bookings for Spurs in all competitions this season and has collected a further two when on International duty in the Autumn.
The final part of this longshot is Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell to be carded. The left-back could well find himself in the opposition half more than his own on Sunday and I think he will have to be alert to stop a potential counter from Son Heung-Min, Steven Bergwijn and maybe even Gareth Bale in the latter stages. Chilwell has been booked once in the Champions League and once in the Premier League this season and I'm hoping for his third of the season on Sunday.
Best of luck to anyone following the selections this weekend. Enjoy the game, please gamble responsibly.
