Chelsea vs. Newcastle United Predictions: Get behind the cards in Super Sunday clash

Live on Sky Sports, Chelsea host Newcastle in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge this Sunday at 2pm.
With so much uncertainty around the club’s immediate future, Thomas Tuchel has made sure the Blues take care of the matters on the field.
They come into this game off the back of four premier league wins in a row and will be looking to make it five to solidify their 3rd position in the league table. An impressive first half display helped them to overcome lowly Norwich on Thursday but they will know Newcastle presents a tougher challenge.
Chelsea v Newcastle Tips
The visitors are one of the most in-form teams in the league having won 6 of their last 7 Premier League games. They have moved 10 points clear of the relegation zone and will have their eyes firmly set on a top half finish.
The new signings have gelled in well with Chris Wood and Bruno Guimaraes netting a goal each in their comeback win over Southampton this past Thursday.
The reverse leg back in October ended in a comfortable 3-0 win in favour of the Blues but based on current form, this is expected to be a competitive affair.
An exciting Premier League clash awaits us and as usual, I have you covered with 2 of my best betting angles included in the preview below:
Team News:
Chilwell and Reece James are out for Chelsea while Alonso, Azpilicueta, Hudson-Odoi and Pulisic are doubtful.
Callum Wilson, Kieran Trippier, Federico Fernandez, Ciaran Clark, Isaac Hayden & Jamal Lewis are out for Newcastle while Bruno Guimaraes, Emil Krafth and Joelinton are doubtful.
Chelsea possible starting lineup:
Mendy; Christensen, T Silva, Rudiger, Sarr; Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic; Ziyech, Havertz, Mount
Newcastle possible starting lineup:
Dubravka; Manquillo, Schar, Burn, Targett; Willock, Shelvey, Joelinton; Saint-Maximin, Wood, Murphy
- Both teams to receive a card in the match
- Over 5.5 Shots in the match for Newcastle
- Over 0 goals in the 2nd half for both teams combined
The referee in charge here is the card-happy David Coote who averages 4.4 cards per game this season so far. I am expecting a competitive game with plenty of tackles flying in. In the reverse leg, 5 cards were dished out with 3 received by Newcastle and 2 by Chelsea and we should see both teams pick up at least 1 card here again.
Newcastle have cleared the Over 5.5 Shots line in their last 9 consecutive Premier League games and they also cleared this line in the reverse leg against Chelsea. In current form, they will give it a go at Stamford Bridge and I can definitely see them clearing this line for the 10th consecutive time in the league.
Finally, Chelsea have seen a 2nd half goal in their last 6 out of 7 games in all competitions and when these teams met earlier this season, there were 3 second half goals scored. Combining these 3 selections gives us a cracking bet builder @ 4/5 and I am happy to stake 1pt on that as our main bet for this clash.
Christensen will be in line to play the RCB/RB role considering Reece James is out and Azpilicueta is a major doubt. This means he could be up against the tricky Saint-Maximim who is one of the most fouled player in the league.
For the second part, I am going with a Mason Mount assist. He leads the assists leaderboard for Chelsea with 7 and also provides the most key passes (1.7) after Reece James who is out for this game. Combining these 2 selections gives us an attractive longshot double @ 21/1 and I am happy to stake a very small 0.25pt on that.
