Championship Promotion Odds 2023/24: Foxes favourites to return at the first attempt
The 2023/24 Championship season begins on Friday 4th August and today at BettingOdds.com we’ve taken a look at the latest odds for promotion.
Championship Promotion Odds
Few punters would have predicted that Leicester City would be relegated from the Premier League last term, but they are the shortest priced-side to achieve promotion back to the promised land. Most bookmakers go 11/8 that The Foxes will bounce back at the first attempt, with BoyleSports currently a stand-out top-price at 13/8.
Next in the market we have another side who dropped down from the top-flight last season in Leeds United. Daniel Farke is the man tasked with guiding Leeds back to the Premier League and he has twice won the Championship title with Norwich. Leeds can be backed at 2/1 with Paddy Power and other trusted betting sites to be promoted.
The last time Southampton played second-tier football was back in 2012. Saints finished bottom of the table in 2022/23, and can be sided with at 5/2 to make a return at the first time of asking.
Middlesbrough finished fourth in the table last season grabbing themselves a spot in the play-offs. Michael Carrick’s side failed to see off Coventry City over two legs and will have their sights set on an automatic promotion spot this term. Most bookmakers go 3/1 for Boro to be promoted this season.
Norwich City were the bookmakers favourites to finish top of the Championship last season but could only muster a 13th place finish. This time round the Canaries are chalked up at 9/2 to return to the Premier League.
Slightly bigger at 5/1, we have Watford. The Hornets collected 63 points last season but will have been disappointed with their 11th place. Watford changed manager three times in that campaign, with Valerien Ismael now the man tasked with returning them to the top-flight.
Again at 5/1, we have Ipswich. The Tractor Boys are the shortest price of any of the newly promoted sides from League One, with those odds implying a 17% chance of back-to-back promotions.
West Brom finished three points outside the play-off places in 2022/23 and are 11/2 with most firms for a return to the Premier League for the first time since 2021.
Stoke and Sunderland can both be found at 6/1 in the Championship promotion market. The Black Cats made it to the play-offs last season along with Coventry City who suffered heartbreak at Wembley losing out to Luton. Mark Robins’ side have lost their prolific striker Viktor Gyokeres and are 8/1 with bet365 to be promoted in the forthcoming campaign.
Blackburn Rovers win over Millwall on the final day of last season prevented The Lions reaching the play-offs, with Blackburn themselves only missing out on goal difference after being in the top-six for the majority of the season. This time round, both sides can be backed at 9/1 for promotion.
