Brighton vs. Leeds Betting Tips: Shots on the menu at the AMEX
There are seven Premier League games on Saturday and five of those kick off at the traditional 3pm time. We've asked our resident West Yorkshireman Adam Roberts to preview the game between Brighton and Leeds on the south coast. He's picked out his two best bets for you to scan over.
Brighton vs. Leeds Tips
Both these two sides have had a cracking start to the season, each picking up seven points from their opening three fixtures. What may have looked in pre-season like a nothing game from the bottom of the table is now a top five battle between two in-form sides.
Brighton manager Graham Potter's reputation continues to go from strength to strength. After losing the likes of Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella, many thought that the Seagulls may struggle to match their league position from the previous season but some more shrewd scouting has seen them carry on exactly where they left off. The squad still looks a little light up front so they still look to do some more business before the transfer window closes.
Jesse Marsch was one of the early favourites in the next Premier League manager to leave market but some shrewd transfer business has seen him end up with arguably a stronger squad than last season. Leeds sold the crown jewels in Raphinha and Kalvin Phllips but immediately re-invested the £100m funds into new players, mainly with an American or Red Bull flavour to them and they have had needed no time to adjust to the rigours of the English top flight. A 3-0 victory over Chelsea last time out might have finally put paid to those in the Elland Road Kop who were harking back to the days of BielsaBall. It looks like Marsch is here to stay.
Team news
Potter is without Jeremy Sarmiento and Jakub Moder and will probably remain unchanged for his one, despite the goal by Deniz Undav in midweek on his first start.
Marsch will be seriously giving consideration to starting Luis Sinisterra after his starring performance in the midweek EFL win against Barnsley, where he scored on his first start after a hamstring injury in pre season. He is still however, without Junior Firpo, Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas. Patrick Bamford is a doubt and is unlikely to be risked from the start.
One reason for the superb start for the Whites has been the form of frontman Rodrigo Moreno. After a disappointing couple of seasons in the Premier League, where the 31-year-old Spaniard scored just 13 goals in 57 games, Rodrigo has been forced into a more central role, due to the loss of Raphinha and the injury to Bamford, and has thrived there since. Moreno is the current Premier League top scorer with four goals in his first three games and he is averaging 4.3 shots pg and 2 shots on target pg.
His output is better than at any point in his career and I expect that to continue on Saturday. Should he start up top in the no. 9 role again then the evens on him to register a shot on target looks huge.
One of the men brought in during the summer with the Raphinha and Phillips cash, was Luis Sinisterra. I tipped up the 23-year-old Colombian to score in midweek and he duly obliged. After a very impressive performance, Sinisterra will be pushing really hard for a first Premier League start and should Marsch decide to promote him from the bench the prices on him to have shots on target are huge at Paddy Power. He's 11/4 to have 1+ SoT and 18/1 to have 2+. Compare that to the 6/5 and 7/1 at bet365 and you can see just how much value we are getting here, should he start.
Paddies offer a cash out option on this market so should he be benched again, you can simply cash out your bet for your stake back. Sinisterra scored 20 goals in just 76 appearances from the wing for former club Feyenoord so clearly has an eye for goal.
