Bournemouth vs. Tottenham Betting Tips: 6/1 poke makes appeal on the south coast
Bournemouth host Tottenham in Saturday’s early kick-off and our doctor of data Scott Thornton is on hand to preview the action and provide us with his best bets.
Andoni Iraola controversially replaced Gary O’Neil in the summer after the latter helped The Cherries remain in the Premier League. Iraola guided Rayo Vallecano to a mid-table finish in La Liga last season and their high-pressing game caught the eye. He is still in search of his first competitive win at Bournemouth but they managed to pick up a point against West Ham on the opening day.
Ange Postecoglou is still in the fledgling days of his tenure at Tottenham but the hallmarks of his style of play have started to appear. They attacked with great efficiency against Manchester United and their inverted full-backs helped them gain a numerical advantage in midfield.
Alex Scott and Marcus Tavernier remain injured so Gary O’Neil is likely to name an unchanged 11 for this match. Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Bentancur are ruled out for Tottenham. There are also doubts over James Maddison’s fitness with the weekend fast approaching.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Tips
Tottenham have made a solid start to life without Harry Kane. They earned a draw in the opening game of the season against Brentford. They beat Manchester United last weekend and following that up with a win here would be a real morale boost ahead of a long season. Ange Postecoglou’s side looks to engage their opponents further up the pitch so expect the tackle numbers to increase as Spurs become more accustomed to this.
Bournemouth’s only home match of the season so far saw 47 tackles. The average amount of tackles per Premier League so far this season is 32.89. Their trip to Anfield where they were beaten 3-1 saw 33 tackles.
Both of Tottenham’s matches have also been above the league average. Their opening game against Brentford saw 33 tackles, while last week’s win over Manchester United saw 37. There have been 32 tackles or more in their last three meetings with Bournemouth. There has been an average of 34.67 tackles per game over this period.
Bournemouth’s matches so far this season have also seen plenty of attempts. Like Postecoglou, Iraola favours a high-pressing game. This has meant there has been opportunities for both Bournemouth’s and the opposition’s attack to thrive in the opening two games. The Cherries’ matches have seen 30 and 39 shots.
Tottenham’s matches have also cleared the required mark for this bet to land with ease. There were 39 shots in their win over Manchester United and 29 shots in the match when they travelled to Brentford on the opening weekend.
This main bet builder landed on both occasions these sides met last season.
For my longshot bet, I’m backing the same angles as our main bet with increased props lines.
The shots aspect of this bet builder landed the last time these teams faced off. The tackles finished one short in both meetings last season but the managerial changes at both clubs should lead to more tackles in theory.
