Blackpool vs Nottingham Forest Prediction and Betting Tips: Side with Chris Wood to score a header

After a 2-2 draw ten days ago Blackpool take on Nottingham Forest in a FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday. The game can be seen live on ITV4 and we’ve got our man Anthony Eadson on hand with his best bets for the occasion.

After taking a two-goal lead at The City Ground, Blackpool will have been disappointed not to secure the victory and set up a fourth round tie against either West Ham or Bristol City. The Tangerines have won nine of their last ten home matches across all competitions and are priced at 29/10 to win Wednesday’s game, while they can be backed at 6/4 to advance to the next round of England’s most famous cup competition. 

The news of a potential points deduction hangs heavy over Nottingham Forest with The Tricky Trees currently four points above the relegation zone. Nuno Santo’s side have more players who have departed for AFCON than any other top-tier side, but remain the favourites to come out on top here. Forest are chalked-up as the 1/2 favourites to progress to the fourth round and can be sided with at 17/20 to get the job done in 90 minutes.

The first selection I’m siding with from Bloomfield Road is for Blackpool’s Callum Connelly to find his way into the book. The Tangerines right-back is the joint-most carded player for his side this season having collected six yellows in just 14 league starts! 

BetVictor go 21/10 for Connolly to be carded in this cup clash, which may not seem the most eye-catching of prices on first glance, however with him being carded in almost one in two matches this season, I think it’s worth getting behind. Connolly has also received a caution in the FA Cup this term and should have his work cutout against the pace and trickery of Callum Hudson-Odoi who will be his direct opponent here.

At 7/1 I also like the look of Chris Wood to score a header. I had some luck in this market on Monday with Derby County’s James Collins finding the net via his head and I’m going back in, this time with Forest’s Chris Wood. 

In the Premier League this season 53% of Wood’s shots have come via his head and in total he has managed seven top-flight goals. Three of those seven goals have arrived courtesy of his head and 7/1 for a repeat looks a very backable price against opposition who sit two divisions below.
