Betting Stories: Spain's draw costs unfortunate punter £1million in 19-fold accumulator heartbreak

What a kick in the teeth
Football betting can be cruel at the best of times. Missing out on an accumulator is heart-breaking enough, but when it’s just one selection that lets you down it takes the disappointment factor to a whole new level.
When the potential returns stand at an eye-watering £1million (yes, million) though, then it’s probably about time you start thinking about hanging the betting slips up.
This was the reality for one hugely unfortunate punter this weekend, as Spain failing to beat Switzerland during Saturday evening’s UEFA Nations League clash in Basel saw him miss out on the life-changing sum of money. What's worse, is that Sergio Ramos missed not one, but two penalties in this game to cost his country a victory!
The mystery punter, brought to our attention by his friend on Twitter, placed a ginormous 19-fold acca on the weekend’s action, including an array of different selections from various leagues across the globe.
The Coral customer backed the following:
Greece to beat Moldova - WON
Slovenia to beat Kosovo - WON
Italy to beat Poland - WON
Belgium to beat England - WON
Austria to beat Northern Ireland - WON
Netherlands to beat Bosnia - WON
Finland to beat Bulgaria - WON
Sweden to beat Croatia - WON
France to beat Portugal - WON
Germany to beat Ukraine - WON
Spain to beat Switzerland - LOST
Mexico to beat South Korea - WON
Clube Atlético Mineiro to beat Corinthians Paulista (Brazil) - WON
NAC Breda to beat Telstar (Netherlands) - WON
Lugo to beat Albacete (Spain Division Two) - WON
Mallorca to beat Girona (Spain Division Two)
Nagoya to beat FC Tokyo (Japan) - WON
Shonan Bellmare to beat Kobe (Japan) - WON
Norway to beat Romania - VOID (unsure why)
Totting up all of the odds in the slip, @BenThornton123 calculated the potential returns - had Spain managed to beat Switzerland - at a whopping £3,097,266, of which he would have received £1million due to that figure surpassing Coral's max pay-out. I'd say he'll get over this one in time, but I'm actually not so sure.
From all of us at BettingOdds.com, we sincerely hope that whoever's bet this was is doing okay (and not planning a hit on Sergio Ramos).
