Betting Stories: A round-up of the best bets and near misses from this weekend's footballing action

Another weekend of exhilarating top-flight football was brought to a close last night, with Arsenal putting in a solid performance to beat basement boys Sheffield United 3-0 at Bramall Lane.
While there are two matches left to play in the Premier League this evening as Southampton travel to West Brom and Brighton host Everton (find our football tips for the games right here), the bulk of the action took place during Saturday and Sunday, with a lot of you winning some decent bets, and some coming agonisingly close to a life-changing payout by the finest of margins.
Take a look at the best winning bets/near misses below...

Get your cards out
We'll kick things off with this utterly bizarre six-fold, which won one lucky punter a huge £11,925 from a £10 stake.
This bet is incredibly unorthodox; forget your win-draw-win or BTTS selections, he went rogue here, combining several pre-constructed multis from Sky Bet.
The buoyant bettor went for over 1.5 goals, over 8.5 corners and over 25 booking points (1 yellow card = 10 booking points, 1 red card = 25 booking points) in each of the following games:
- Tottenham v Man Utd
- Rangers v Hibernian
- West Ham v Leicester
- Montpellier v Marseille
He combined these selections with over 2.5 goals, over 10.5 corners and over 35 booking points for El Clasico and Pacos de Ferreira v Benfica in the Portuguese top-flight.
Extremely random, but kudos because this is one hell of a bet!
Last-gasp Trent masterclass saves the day
If you thought that bet was impressive, feast your eyes on this bad boy.
500/1 bet builders are rarely anything more than a stab in the dark, worthy of a couple of quid in stakes. We wouldn't advise sticking £100 on them, but hats off to this plucky punter who did and reaped humungous rewards in doing so.
With three selections in as the clock ticked past the 90 minute mark at Anfield, all this bet365 customer needed was Trent Alexander-Arnold to score to land £50,100. Yes, that is fifty-thousand pounds.
Given T A-A is a defender and had scored just one league goal before Saturday's clash against Villa, his inclusion into this bet is a perplexing one to say the least.
But that is what makes it all the more sweeter. 91st minute winner for Liverpool and it was the out-of-form full-back who notched the goal. You couldn't write it!
VARcical stuff
Unfortunately, it wasn't all smiles and laughter. For some, the champagne remains on ice after some damn right rotten luck.
Just ask @jamiejessop_1, who stuck a fiver on three correct scores for Sunday's Premier League games, backing Newcastle to beat Burnley 2-1 - which they did - West Ham to beat Leicester 3-2 - which again won in dramatic style - and United to beat Spurs 4-1, which they almost did, but for one goal, defeating their north London counterparts 3-1 to close the gap at the top of the table to 11 points.
The worst thing about this is that United had a goal ruled out in the first half after VAR adjudged Scott McTominay to have fouled Son Heung-min in the build up, which he most certainly did not.
Just the 90 grand missed out on, then. Cheers, Son's crying (quite literally).
