Barcelona vs. Bayern Munich Betting Tips: Musiala generously priced in the shots market

Two giants of European football face off on Wednesday evening as Barcelona welcome Bayern Munich to the Nou Camp in Matchday 5 of the Champions League. As usual here at BettingOdds.com we’ve previewed the action and have provided you with two bets that we think represent good value for the evening’s proceedings.
Heading into Wednesday Bayern currently sit top of the pile in Group C, with an impressive four wins from four. Inter Milan have accumulated seven points and confirmed their place in the knockout stages with a win over Viktoria Plzen in the early kick-off.
With Barcelona currently occupying third in the standings three points behind Inter, it means the Catalans need Plzen to do them a favour, before then seeing off Bayern on home soil. This has been a disappointing group campaign for Xavi’s side and the likelihood is now that they will be playing in the Europa League knockout stages for the second season in a row.
On the flip side, Bayern have had the smoothest of smooth passages through what potentially looked a bit of a tricky group when the draw was announced. With four wins from four including 2-0 victories over Inter and Barcelona Julian Nagelsmann’s side look set to go deep into this competition once again as they seek to lift the trophy for a seventh time.
Barcelona have four confirmed absentees, with Sergi Roberto the latest player to spend a spell on the sidelines due to dislocating his shoulder in the win over Bilbao at the weekend. Memphis Depay, Ronaldo Araujo, and Andreas Christensen will also miss out through injury.
Sadio Mane looks set to lead the line for Bayern with Leroy Sane on the treatment table. Manuel Neuer, Lucas Hernandez, and Bouna Sarr are also sidelined,
Barcelona vs Bayern Munich Tips
It’s fair to say, we are expecting goals here on Wednesday and so are the bookmakers, with both teams to score trading as low as 1/3 with several firms. Bayern can confirm top spot by picking up a result here and the first selection we have focussed our attention on is for Jamal Musiala to have Over 1.5 Shots in the game at 21/20 with Unibet.
The 19-year-old should take up the number 10 role for the visitors here just behind Sadio Mane in attack. It’s six goals in just eight starts in the Bundesliga this season for Musiala, as well as finding the net in both of his appearances in the DFB Pokal, one of those being from the bench. The youngster is averaging 3.42 shots per 90 minutes in the league this season and in all competitions, he has cleared this line of Over 1.5 shots in nine of his 12 starts in 2022/2023. This same selection is priced at 2/9 with Betfair and Paddy Power and we think he’ll have plenty of opportunities in what could be a wide-open game on Wednesday.
We’ve also taken a lean towards Bayern winning this match and Joshua Kimmich to have Over 0.5 shots, priced at 4/1 with bet365. This is a fixture that has not been kind to the Catalans over the years with Bayern Munich winning eight of the last 9 meetings between the pair, including that famous 8-2 victory at the Nou Camp in the quarter-finals back in 2020. The German side have also scored at least two goals in eight of the last nine matches with Barcelona and we are fancying them to secure top spot in the group with another win here.
We’ll also be pairing this with Joshua Kimmich to have Over 0.5 shots, via the bet365 Bet Builder feature. This term Kimmich has started 16 matches for Bayern and has let off at least one shot in 15 of those. The only exception in that period came when he drew a blank in the reverse fixture to Barcelona, but with this priced at 11/10 on bet365 compared to just 1/4 over at Betfair, we think this looks like another value play for the evening.
Please gamble responsibly.
