Australia vs. Netherlands Betting Tips: Back Mitchell Starc to be named Man of the Match

Australia enter a key match against Netherlands, knowing that a win will see them keep pace with the teams hunting qualification. Netherlands will be hoping to prove their shock win against South Africa was no fluke as they look to mount an unlikely qualification challenge.
Here at BettingOdds.com we’ve previewed the clash between Australia and Netherlands, and Andy Francis picks out his two best bets for the match.
Australia vs Netherlands Tips
Australia have turned around their World Cup form, ending their run of two defeats (against India and South Africa) by claiming wins against Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Those victories have put them in the mix for qualification but they need to win this match, against Netherlands, to put some clear distance between themselves and the chasing pack.
Mitch Marsh has been a shining light for the Australian team, so far this tournament. He, like the rest of the team, started slowly, picking up just seven runs in the first two matches but he’s proved class is permanent, smashing 173 runs in the matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan combined. He found the boundary 27 times in those two matches and could be a key man against Netherlands.
Netherlands have lost three of their four matches, so far, but their shock win against South Africa has given them the chance to qualify for the semi-finals. Their three losses haven’t been close run things though, and this could be a tricky match for the side to claim another victory.
Marsh, currently priced at 4/1 to be the top batsman with BoyleSports, will lead the batting order (with David Warner) and he’ll be hoping for a long stay at the crease.
Starc has proven his worth both with the bat and ball in this tournament, taking six wickets but also chipping in with 57 runs across the four games he’s played in.
Despite being a lower-order batsman, Starc has been vital at the crease, halting the loss of wickets with some smart bat play and contributing with six boundaries. If he can continue that good form, as well as picking up wickets, he could be a great shout to be named Man of the Match, something made even more enticing by the big price of 9/1.
Australia know what is on the line in this match, with a victory giving them a significant edge in terms of qualification but they’ll need to wary of a Netherlands side that has shown they can find a result with their backs against the wall.
