Australia vs. Denmark Betting Tips: Two bets for Group D showdown

Group D draws to a close on Wednesday afternoon with already-qualified France in action against Tunisia, while Australia lock horns with Denmark.
Tom Winch is the man for the latter clash, previewing the match and offering a couple of tips...
Australia earned their first World Cup finals win since 2010 against Tunisia on Sunday morning as Mitchell Duke headed home the only goal of the game.
They now face Denmark in Al Wakrah next with both nations needing a result in order to book a place in the knockout stages.
Current world champions, France, have already confirmed a place in the last-16 after beating both of these nations, but it’s the biggest game of them all in Group D here.
Australia need to avoid defeat whilst Kasper Hjulmand’s side must beat the Socceroos to sneak through, bearing in mind Tunisia don’t beat Les Blues by a considerable margin.
Australia vs Denmark Tips
Although the Danes have yet to win in Qatar I’m confident they can turn up when it matters and claim the three vital points that they need at the Al Janoub Stadium.
The former European semi-finalists are around 1/2 to win straight out but adding an extra angle of seeing them earn the win with only a handful of goals scored looks a reasonable angle to consider.
The Aussies know that they’ll be up against it for large parts of the 90 minutes, sitting back and aiming to frustrate the European side for as long as they can given they need just a point could be visible here.
Denmark certainly have the better of the two squads although they’ve not performed up to standards as of yet in the tournament, but they will fancy themselves to find a way through here, against a side who lack top level quality.
All four of Denmark’s victories in the Nation’s League this year saw three or less goals scored and seven of their previous eight competitive wins before that would’ve seen this bet pay out which provides a good level of confidence backing this selection.
Despite taking an early lead against France in the opening round, Australia were well beaten on the night, France racked up a staggering 4.21xG in their 4-1 win which saw one way traffic.
I don’t believe Denmark will be as dangerous going forward but it does show that this Australian side is a team they should be beating.
Denmark failed to hit the back of the net against Tunisia in the first game of the group, they did accumulate 11 corners alone, however, on the day.
As mentioned previously, the Danes will be applying plenty of pressure on Australia looking for an opening which could potentially lead to a fair few corner kicks.
France managed eight corners and Tunisia racked up five in their clashes with Graham Arnold’s side prior to this clash.
If Denmark go a long way into this match without going ahead they’ll become desperate and will throw men forward at will forcing more pressure onto their opponents.
The eyes will be on Denmark in this clash as they need to beat Australia, there is no doubt that they’ll have the vast majority of possession and goal attempts.
If they take the lead I’d expect them to maintain it and win the match, but if things don’t quite go as planned the corner route seems a strong alternative.
