Aston Villa vs Tottenham Prediction and Betting Tips: UCL challengers to be unseparated at Villa Park

Aston Villa could take a big step towards Champions League qualification in Sunday’s early kick-off in the Premier League, as a win for the fourth-placed Villans would see them open up an eight-point gap over their fifth-placed visitors Tottenham.

Spurs will be out for revenge after dominating the reverse fixture but eventually losing 2-1. They enter full of confidence after scoring three late goals to stage a comeback against Crystal Palace on their last outing.
Both sides have enjoyed three wins, one draw and a single loss in their last five games, suggesting that there may be little to split the two top-four contenders at Villa Park on Sunday.
Team News
Aston Villa’s injury crisis has eased somewhat after the returns of Diego Carlos and Ezra Konsa.
However, they will still be without Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, Jhon Duran and Emiliano Buendia for this clash - while Jacob Ramsey is also a doubt - and, after the Villans’ trip to Ajax on Thursday, Unai Emery may shuffle the pack a bit to avoid fatigue.
Richarlison and Pedro Porro missed Spurs’ win over Palace, but the latter has recovered in time for this trip to the Midlands, with the former joining long-term absentees Manor Solomon, Fraser Forster and Ryan Sessegnon on the sidelines for at least another week.
Predicted XIs:
Aston Villa (4-4-1-1) Martinez; Konsa, Carlos, Torres, Moreno; Cash, Luiz, McGinn, Diaby; Bailey; Watkins
Spurs (4-3-3) Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bissouma, Maddison; Kulusevski, Son, Werner
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Tips
While Heung-min Son seems to have found his feet again following his return from the Asian Cup, he still will not be the most in-form player taking to the pitch as that honour belongs to Villa’s own Ollie Watkins.
The England forward has netted five times in his last three Premier League games and given that he scored the winner in the reverse fixture in north London, he rates as a solid bet to beat Guglielmo Vicario again on Sunday.
While Aston Villa’s home form is not as rock solid as it was towards the start of the season, they are still very strong at Villa Park and have won 11 of their last 15 games on their own patch.
However, the Villans were involved in a cagey affair in Amsterdam on Thursday - drawing 0-0 with Ajax in a Europa Conference League match that saw just eight total shots - and they could show some fatigue from that tetchy clash which may prevent them from taking all three points.
However, Spurs look equally as unlikely to take the spoils at Villa Park as Ange Postecoglou’s men have managed just one win in their last six away games, drawing with Everton, Manchester United and Manchester City during that run.
There is little to split these two sides - with just one place and five points separating the pair in the Premier League table - and a draw looks the likeliest outcome for Sunday’s early afternoon clash.
