Arsenal sit second in the league table on 47 points after 23 games, six points behind league leaders Liverpool who have a game in hand.
They are on a brilliant run of 13 games unbeaten in the Premier League, although they have drawn five games in that run including a disappointing 2-2 draw against Aston Villa where they gave away a 2-0 lead at the Emirates Stadium.
Overall, Arsenal have only managed to win two of their last five games at the Emirates Stadium in all competitions, so they need to improve their home form if they are to challenge Liverpool for the title.
As for Manchester City, they are going through a horror season by their standards, as they sit 12 points behind the league leaders Liverpool but after their 3-1 win over Chelsea, they finally got back into the Champions League spots.
They also survived a massive scare when they conceded the first goal to Club Brugge in a must-win game for Champions League qualification in midweek, but a spirited second-half performance saw them run out 3-1 winners and secure a playoff spot in the competition.
They are on a run of six games unbeaten in the league and they will be hoping to extend that run when they visit the Emirates Stadium where they were beaten 1-0 last season courtesy of a Gabriel Martinelli 86th minute winner.
However, their overall record at the Emirates is dominant, as they have come out victorious in four of their last five visits in all competitions. They have looked vulnerable defensively since the Rodri injury and despite the recent good run of form, they still look vulnerable in transitions, something that Arsenal will look to exploit.
This is a monumental clash in terms of its significance in the title race and Arsenal are in must win territory if they are to catch Arne Slot’s men.
Matheus Nunes is averaging around 1.9 fouls per start in the Premier League this season and has been a consistent starter for Guardiola in the right back position in recent weeks. He has committed a foul in eight of his nine Premier League starts and a foul in all six starts in the Champions League. He is expected to be up against the likes of Trossard and Lewis Skelly, who love drawing fouls out of their opposition players.
Kai Havertz is averaging the most fouls per game (1.8) in the Premier League for Arsenal this season. His tendency of going into aerial duels aggressively often sees him commit a lot of fouls on the opposition defenders and he has done so in 19 of his 20 starts in the league this season as well as all his six starts in the Champions League.
Omar Marmoush is Manchester City’s exciting new signing from Eintracht Frankfurt where he was averaging 4.5 shots per game in the Bundesliga. He started against Chelsea and looked City’s best player in attack, attempting two shots and having a goal disallowed. He will be eager to make his mark on such a massive fixture and I expect him to comfortably clear the “Over 0.5 shots” line against Arsenal this Sunday.
As for goals, there have been at least one goal in the last 21 consecutive head-to-head meetings between these two sides in all competitions. A draw does not do any side a favour so expect both sides to take an attacking approach which should result in an entertaining Sunday main event.
We will be backing these with Paddy Power as they switch the bet on to the substitute in case one of our players get subbed early.
Arsenal vs Man City Betting Offers
Take your chance with these three impressive offers on Arsenal vs Man City this Sunday, by clicking on the banners below.
- Betfair offer a huge 50/1 on Haaland +0.5 Shots on Target
- Skybet offer a huge 50/1 for 1+ Goal Scored.
- Paddy Power offer a massive 30/1 on Arsenal 1+ Corners.
For our second pick, we will be taking higher lines on all four selections.
Matheus Nunes has committed 2+ fouls in five of his nine Premier League starts and is playing out of position at right back which can be awkward against a quality opposition like Arsenal and he will be someone Arteta’s men could look to target.
Kai Havertz committed two fouls the last time these two sides faced each other in the Premier League at the Etihad earlier this season. He has committed 2+ fouls in ten of his 20 starts this season and up against Manchester City in a must win game, the stakes are even higher so I expect him to be very aggressive in his aerial duels, which should lead to him committing at least two fouls.
Omar Marmoush loves to take shots from both outside and inside the box, as shown by his 4.5 shots per game average at Eintracht Frankfurt. He had two shots in his first game for City and two shots in 16 of his 17 starts for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga this season. He should be fired up to get on the scoresheet against a top quality side like Arsenal so I expect him to take a shot whenever he gets an opportunity, which is great for our “Over 1.5 shots” selection.
We will be backing these with PaddyPower as they switch the bet on to the substitute in case one of our players get subbed early.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
