Arsenal vs Bournemouth Preview
After being given plenty to ponder from their first leg defeat to PSG in the Champions League semi-finals, and with a trip to Paris to come on Wednesday, Arsenal could do without the visit of Bournemouth on Saturday evening, especially as their second-place spot looks secured.
The Cherries have lost their bite in recent weeks and also appear to have little to play for, but are still only one point off eighth place, which would represent their best ever league finish, and so should still have plenty of motivation.
Arsenal vs Bournemouth Betting Tips
A hallmark of Bournemouth’s excellent season has been their all-out-attack approach which has seen them average 15.8 shots per game, the fourth most of any Premier League side.
On the road, their numbers are equally impressive with 14.88 per game and they’ve had at least 12 shots in 13 of their 17 trips away from the Vitality. They’ve also demonstrated no fear visiting the big boys with 19 shots at Anfield and having fired off 13 efforts at goal in their 2-0 victory in the reverse fixture, the line looks more than achievable.
Arsenal don’t concede many shots at the Emirates, however, due to the aforementioned European commitments, we are likely to see a heavily rotated Gunners side.
They’re also lacking in back-up options with only five senior pros making their bench for that PSG fixture and so there’s every chance their line-up has a youthful look to it.
In their most recent home game against Crystal Palace, despite most first-teamers starting, their attention was clearly on PSG as they allowed the Eagles 15 shots and with Bournemouth’s attacking options happy to shoot on sight, they’re more than capable of a similar number.
One of those second-string players who will likely start is right back Ben White. The Englishman has done so on three occasions since returning from injury and has managed a shot in each of those games against Ipswich, Everton and PSV.
He also has plenty of previous against the Cherries with a shot in three of his last four games against them, scoring twice to boot. His season average of 0.74 shots per 90 also demonstrates that he’s happy to pull the trigger, with 43% of those efforts coming from outside the box.
For all their attacking exploits, Bournemouth are giving up 13.9 shots per game on the road and in this fixture last season allowed the Gunners 25 efforts at goal. In their last two games, opposition right backs have had a shot in both as Milos Kerkez looks to get forward at every opportunity and with White happy to shoot from range, this price looks too good to turn down given his record against Bournemouth.
