Arsenal v Leicester City Tips: Premier League top two scorers to hit the target on Tuesday

Arsenal’s victory against Wolves at the weekend was their first in the league against a team starting above them in the table for the first time since the 26th of September 2015 when they beat Leicester 5-2 at the KingPower. The Foxes travel to London tomorrow for what could be a crucial game in their push for Champions League football with bookmakers giving them a 56% chance of doing so with odds of 4/5 In the Premier League top 4 betting
Leicester put three past Crystal Palace at the weekend in a convincing victory but that was as many as they had scored in their last three games and only their fifth win in their last seventeen in all competitions. Having a look at the match odds for this one Ladbrokes make Arsenal the 5/4 favourites with an implied chance of victory of 44%. The draw is the biggest price of the three outcomes at 5/2 whilst Betfair are currently top price at 9/4 on what would be a massive win for the visitors.
Nicolas Pepe missed the trip to the Black Country at the weekend due to his wife giving birth but all being well with mother and child he’s expected to return for this one. Gabriel Martinelli, Bernd Leno, Calum Chambers and Pablo Mari all remain sidelined for the Gunners. For the Foxes, James Maddison remains a doubt due to a knock on his hip, Ayoze Perez and Ben Chilwell both were both forced off against Crystal Palace and will face late fitness tests.
The game will be shown on SkySports Premier league and kicks off at 20:15pm. I’ve picked out three football tips that I feel represent value in the markets for the game starting with two players to have a shot on target.
The good folk over at Betfair have given us a nice little boost from evens to 11/8 on both Jamie Vardy and Nicholas Pepe to have one or more shots on target.
As mentioned above Pepe missed Saturday’s game at Wolves due to his wife giving birth and I expect him to come back into the starting lineup for tomorrow night’s game. Behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette, Pepe averages the most shots on goal per game for Arsenal this season and with Auba being 1/7 for a shot on target I feel there is no value to be had with him. In Pepe’s last start against Sheffield United he managed two shots between the posts and barring he starts in the front three for the Gunners, I’ll be backing this little double.
Jamie Vardy became the 29th player to score 100 Premier League goals at the weekend netting two against a weary looking Crystal Palace. I’m delighted for Vardy after only coming to the Premier League age 27 I think it’s a massive achievement and one that should fill him with confidence for this game against Arsenal. Only Wayne Rooney (12) Robbie Fowler (10) and Harry Kane (10) have more goals against The Gunners than Vardy who has 9. He averages 1.3 shots on target per game which gives me plenty of reason to believe he will have another here.
James Maddison remains a doubt for this one and if he doesn’t start I’ll be having Youri Tielemans to have a shot on target as part of this 18/1 double. Maddison has now missed the last three games and I replaced him with Tielemans to have one or more shots on target in that first game against Chelsea with it landing inside 20 minutes. Without Maddison, who averages the most shots per game than any player, Tielemans is having to get forward more and looking to shoot. He has a great strike on him and I’m fancying him to have one on target tomorrow evening.
Granit Xhaka has been a much better player in the first half of the season and lately has been playing more of a central role in midfield rather than sitting in front of the defence. In my opinion many of the bookmakers have him still priced up as a defender or holding midfielder and you only have to look at his most recent performances to see the attacking intent from the Swiss International. He was busting a gut to get into the box against Wolves at the weekend, he was on the scoresheet and had two shots against Norwich last week, and also managed two shots in the game prior to that in the defeat away at Sheffield United.
With this in mind I’ve doubled both Granit Xhaka and Youri Tielemans to each have one or more shots on target as I feel they both represent value based on their recent performances. Betfair have given us the boosted price of 18/1 which doesn't look too shabby at all.
There’s plenty of people out there who enjoy a longshot at high odds with the Same Game Multi feature and I’ve gone with this from PaddyPower at 40/1 for, Vardy and Aubameyang to have a shot on target, combined with both David Luiz and Wilfred Ndidi to be carded.
We have the two Premier League top scorers both playing in this one with Jamie Vardy and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang having 40 goals between them this season. The latter is two behind Vardy and in the top goalscorer betting 11/4 in the betting, with BetVictor going odds on at 4/5 to be crowned the Golden Boot winner. Both of these players are averaging over 1 shot on target every league game this season, and with Vardy being high with confidence after his two goals at the weekend and both of them being penalty takers, I’m happy to put them both to have a shot on target into this bet.
First up on the card front is David Luiz. He’s been booked five times this season and has been sent off twice, most recently at Manchester City after coming on as a substitute. Despite a much better performance at Wolves on the weekend he managed to still pick up a caution and whenever I watch him I feel he is always liable for a moment of madness. Priced at 11/4 as a single he’s going into this Same Game Multi.
Leicester’s Wilfred Ndidi is another who’s no stranger to a card with no player in his squad having picked up more than Nigerian International. He’s enjoyed a good season under Brendan Rodgers however he’s averaging 1.7 fouls per game and with a tough trip to the Emirates on the menu, I’m fancying him to swallow up another yellow. Putting these four elements together pays 40/1 with PaddyPower, a price I’ll be having a little nibble on for the game. Enjoy the remainder of the Premier League season and as always, please remember to gamble responsibly.
Jamie Vardy netted his 100th and 101st Premier League goals as Leicester kept their hold on third place with a 3-0 win over Crystal Palace.
