Arsenal vs. Newcastle Betting Tips: Two bets for huge Premier League clash
A top of the table clash takes place tonight as Newcastle travel down south to the Emirates where they face Arsenal live on Sky Sports Main Event.
Dean Woodward has previewed the match and picked out his best bets...
Arsenal have got straight back to winning ways after the World Cup with a 3-1 victory against West Ham on Boxing Day, followed by a thrilling 4-2 victory over Brighton.
They have now opened up an impressive gap at the top of the table, leading Manchester City in second place by seven points, with the goal of being ten points clear after Tuesday evening.
Goals from all over the pitch against Brighton as Nketiah, Odegaard, Martinelli and Saka all found the net and will all start here against Newcastle with Garbirel Jesus still sidelined.
Right back Tomiyasu came off the bench against Brighton to register his first appearance for nearly two months after shaking off a recent hamstring injury, but unlikely to nudge aside Ben White who has been excellent throughout.
It's the stuff of dreams for Newcastle fans as they see their side third after New Year, an incredible achievement for all players and staff involved.
This is no fluke from Eddie Howe and his side, they have looked rock solid this campaign, comfortably conceding the least amount of goals in the Premier League this season (11). Along with a solid defensive record, they’ve also scored the fifth most goals in the league, registering the fourth highest expected goals (xG) along the way.
The injury list remains the same in the Newcastle camp, with Alexander Isak, Jonjo Shelvey, Matt Targett, Emil Krafth and Paul Dummett all still sidelined.
Callum Wilson replaced Chris Wood in the 0-0 draw with Leeds last time out in the 60th minute, so should be fresh to regain a start here in this crucial top of the table clash. Joelinton could also revert back to central midfield to make way for danger-man Allan Saint-Maximin who could cause Ben White some big problems.
Arsenal vs Newcastle Tips
Arsenal rank fairly low in the Premier League for tackles, averaging 15 per game, but it's a figure I expect to see inflate against this heavily tackled Newcastle side.
In their last eight Premier League fixtures, Arsenal have cleared this line on five occasions, registering 124 tackles at an average of 15.5 per game, bang on this line given to us from Bet365.
However, when we factor in that this line has won against Newcastle in the last 10 fixtures across all competitions, with an average of over 20 tackles per game, it looks like we are getting some real value.
A bet that caught my eye for this huge top of the table clash is England full-back Kieran Trippier to be booked.
He has been booked in three of his last four starts now, conceding eleven fouls, making this 11/2 look rather generous given the importance of this fixture.
Andy Madley is the referee for this one which isn’t ideal with a 3.03 yellow per game life-time average, but with the 32 year-old facing off against the youth of Gabriel Martinelli, he could be in for a busy night.
Four of the last nine right backs to face Arsenal in the Premier have gone into the referees book and there is a good chance that streak can continue.
