AC Milan vs. Newcastle Betting Tips: Back Trippier to be carded as Magpies return to Champions League
The seven-time Champions League winners AC Milan go head to head against their English opponents Newcastle United who will be competing in the Champions League for the first time in 20 years at the San Siro Stadium this Tuesday. Our man Tipster Wizard has provided his thoughts on the game and has picked out two tips he thinks represent value in the betting markets.
The Italian side started their season impressively, going on a three game winning run but were then hammered 5-1 by rivals Inter Milan this past weekend. Such a big loss is sure to have a detrimental effect on the players but their coach Stefano Pioli will be hoping for an instant reaction from them in the Champions League.
As for the Magpies, they were on a three-game losing run in the league before they managed to beat Brentford last weekend in a closely fought affair. It has not been an ideal start to the season for Eddie Howe’s side, but Milan’s huge loss at the weekend will give them confidence to go to San Siro and pull off a positive result.
Newcastle did visit the San Siro Stadium back in 2002 when they came up against Inter but this will be their first ever competitive meeting against AC Milan. A mouth-watering Champions League clash awaits us and I have covered it with two of my best bets for you below:
Team News:
Pierre Kalulu & Ismael Bennacer are out for AC Milan.
Joe Willock & Emil Krafth are out for Newcastle while Joelinton is doubtful.
AC Milan vs Newcastle Tips
- AC Milan Under 20.5 tackles
- Over 0 goals for AC Milan
AC Milan are not a high tackling side as they are averaging just 9.3 tackles per game this season. Newcastle’s opponents are averaging 14.8 tackles per game this term, but that stat is skewed due to Brentford’s 30 tackles against them at the weekend. With AC Milan expected to have more of the ball, there will likely be less tackling opportunities for the Italian side.
As for goals, AC Milan have scored nine goals in four games so far this season, scoring in every league game. Newcastle have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their five league games and also looked shaky defensively in their 1-0 win over Brentford at the weekend. Combining these two selections gives us a solid bet builder that I will be taking as our main bet with a 1pt stake.
Kieran Trippier will have the tough task of going up against one of the trickiest wingers in the world, Rafael Leao. He is the second most fouled player in Serie A at the moment and has been Milan’s player of the season so far.
Trippier picked up a yellow card earlier this season when he went up against another tricky winger in Luis Diaz and he looks good value to go into the referee’s book @ 4/1 with a small 0.25pt stake on it as our second bet for this game.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly
