AC Milan vs. Chelsea Betting Tips: Best bets including a 17/2 longshot in Milan

AC Milan were humbled at Stamford Bridge last week. The Italian champions created very little as they were brushed aside by Chelsea.
The Blues were firmly in control. They found the net three times and restricted the visitors to just four shots in the game. Graham Potter’s side followed up that impressive display with another 3-0 victory over Wolves. So confidence is high as the squad travels to Milan.
Potter has employed different formations throughout the early stages of his tenure. He has named a back four in his last two league games, but last week’s game against Milan saw Chelsea use a back five. It’ll be interesting to see what tactics are used to deal with an inevitable Milan response on Tuesday.
AC Milan vs Chelsea Tips
There were just 10 goal kicks in the game at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea taking the lead early on. But Potter’s side have been forcing a lot of goal kicks in recent matches. Their opponents have had 15 and 10 goal kicks in the 2 league games under the new manager.
Milan showed the attacking impetus they were missing against Chelsea in their win over Juventus at the weekend. They comfortably dispatched Juventus in a 2-0 win. They forced 13 Juventus goal kicks in that one. I expect them to go out there and prove a point in front of their own fans.
Milan’s league matches are averaging over 16 goal kicks per game this season. Well above the required mark for this bet to land. Chelsea’s two league matches under Potter have also comfortably exceeded 12 goal kicks. So I’m happy to back them here.
Chelsea’s 4 games under the new manager have seen 52, 42, 40 and 42 throws. There have been 40 throws or more in Milan’s last 4 matches. There were 47 when they met Juventus at the weekend. There were 40 throws in the reverse fixture at Stamford Bridge, and I’m expecting this one to be played at a higher intensity.
Combining both the goal kick and throw angles gives us a price of 1.86 on Bet 365. The group is wide open, so Milan need to respond. A higher intensity from the home side should see these lines land comfortably.
For the longer odds bet, I’m going to take the same angles as the main bet. There is every chance that the goal kicks line is hammered here. Milan’s last game saw 19 goal kicks. Chelsea’s last game saw 21.
Chelsea were comfortable in the reverse fixture, but there was still 40 throws in the match. If there is more competition for possession in advanced areas, there should be more throws than there were at Stamford Bridge.
Finally, I’m going to add both teams to score in the match. There would have been an inquest into the blunt attacking display from Milan last week. They responded against Juventus and possess enough attacking quality to hurt Chelsea. Rafael Leao showed glimpses of what he can do, and the wide man should be well up for this one.
Milan have scored in every one of their home games this season with an average of 2.5 goals per game. Chelsea have found the net 9 times in their 4 games under Potter, so it will be hard to contain them here.
