A successful Scottish footballer, Jackie McNamara reached the Scottish Challenge Cup final in his first managerial job with Patrick Thistle before he joined SPL outfit Dundee United.
McNamara extended his contract but was relieved of his duties by Dundee just a year later and he was soon making a move south of the border with York City.
