Michniewicz was named as the new manager of Poland on 31 January 2022, he signed a deal that will take him until 31 December 2022 with an option to extend, depending of course how he gets on at the 2022 World Cup. He took over from Paulo Sousa who left to join Flamengo just three months before Poland's first 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification play-offs game.
