Alan Curbishley
Alan Curbishley
Alan Curbishley is the former manager of Charlton Athletic and West Ham United. However, since leaving his post at the Hammers in 2008 Curbishley has become somewhat of a Sack Race favourite as he's consistently linked with a return to the managerial arena, but to no avail.
Curbishley moved into coaching in 1990 with Charlton, before becoming the club's joint manager, with Steve Gritt, the following year. Curbs took sole charge at The Valley in 2005 and led the Addicks up to the Premier League twice, making them into an established top-flight side after the second promotion.
Curbs left Charlton at the end of the 2005/06 season after 729 games in charge, returning to the dugout shortly after with former club West Ham.
The Hammers looked a certainty for relegation when he joined but after a brilliant second half of the season they escaped the drop on the final day of the season with an unlikely win over Man United at Old Trafford.
The following seasons were more difficult for Curbishley as he grew annoyed by the clubs transfer policy and as speculation mounted he resigned his position in September 2008.
Since then it has been quiet on the Curbishley front with only a few stints on Match of The Day to keep him busy.
