Wrexham vs. Oldham Betting Tips: Mullin's home record makes him an attractive price to score at the Racecourse

40 FA Cup first round ties will take place across the weekend, with National League sides Wrexham and Oldham Athletic facing off at the Racecourse Ground live on ITV 1 at 12:30pm Sunday. We’ve previewed the game and provided you with two tips we like the look of.
Wrexham currently sit second in the National League table, one point behind leaders Notts County. Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s number one target will be for the Red Dragons to achieve promotion this season, but with TV opportunities such as this one on Sunday, a good Cup run could also be a serious boost.
When these two sides met on the 1 August at Boundary Park, Wrexham came out 2-1 winners thanks to a late Paul Mullin goal, with the former Cambridge striker scoring 12 league goals already this term.
17 places separate these two teams in the National League table, with David Unsworth’s Oldham side down in 19th heading into November. Oldham only won one of their eight matches in 90 minutes across October and arrive here having suffered back-to-back defeats to Altrincham and Halifax.
The bookmakers make Wrexham the comfortable favorites to win this match, priced at just 4/11 to come out victorious; an implied probability of 73%. The draw can be backed at 17/4, with a win for the visitors all the way out at 7/1.
Wrexham vs Oldham Tips
The first of two bets we are touting on Sunday is for that man Paul Mullin to get his name on the scoresheet anytime in the match. As we mentioned earlier, Mullin has bagged himself 12 league goals this season, which have come in just 17 appearances.
Add in another goal in the FA Cup and it takes his record to 13 goals in 18 matches. What’s interesting here is that 12 of Paul Mullin’s 13 goals this season have come in home matches, giving plenty of appeal to the standout best price of 5/6 with bet365, while other firms such as Paddy Power go as short as 4/7 on this same selection.
We’ve also taken a lean towards another Wrexham forward for our second bet, and have used the bet365 Bet Builder feature to combine Ollie Palmer to score and be carded. The 30-year-old has managed 10 league goals this season, making him the fourth highest top-scorer in the division, behind Macaulay Langstaff, Paul Mullin and James McShane.
72% of Palmer’s goals in all competitions have arrived at the Racecourse Ground this season and when looking at his disciplinary record, he has been shown more yellow cards than any other Wrexham player this season, with four to his name. This double of Palmer to score and be carded has landed in two matches already this season, against both Wrexham and Woking. At 14/1 this weekend, we think it looks a nice prospect for what should be a good game live on the box.
Did you know that bet365 pay your team out as a winner if they go 2 goals ahead at any time in the match (available on over 80 leagues and competitions, T&C's apply). Find out more on our bet365 offers page.
