World Cup Qualifier Tips
Switzerland to beat Northern Ireland
The selection this evening is Switzerland to beat Northern Ireland at Windsor Park in Group C. Murat Yakin’s side find themselves second in their group, four points behind leaders Italy, however the Swiss do have two games in hand on Roberto Mancini’s men.
Switzerland held Italy to a 0-0 stalemate at the weekend and have looked impressive under their new manager with a win over Greece to go with the point against Italy. There’s no denying that there is a large gap in quality between the two sides, but after reaching the quarter-finals of the Euros this summer, Switzerland can carry on their good form and pick up three points in Belfast on Wednesday.
England to beat Poland
Gareth Southgate made 11 changes at the weekend as the Three Lions demolished Andorra 4-0 with the manager now expected to revert to his stronger XI that he used in last week's win over Hungary.
England won the reverse fixture against Poland 2-1 on home soil and this certainly looks a trickier tie than the odds suggest. However, in this England side we have been blessed with one of the best squad’s for some time.
The Three Lions have scored at least two goals in five of their last six World Cup qualifiers and with Poland only winning three of their ten games under manager Paulo Sousa, we are leaning towards an away win. Harry Kane’s scoring record is phenomenal having netted nine goals in his last ten and with Manchester City teammates Jack Grealish and Raheem Sterling alongside Kane in attack, England should have too much in the final third for the opposition.
Germany to beat Iceland by two or more goals
After 15 years with Joachim Low in charge Germany now begin a new era under Hansi Flick. It’s been a promising start for the former Bayern Munich boss with two wins and two clean sheets. The first of those victories was a 2-0 away win in Liechtenstein, before an emphatic 6-0 thumping of Armenia on Sunday.
Serge Gnabry helped himself to a brace in the win over Armenia, with Marco Reus and Timo Werner also getting on the scoresheet. Iceland have played out a 2-2 draw with North Macedonia as well as a 2-0 defeat to Romania during this International break and with spirits high in the Germany camp they can win this game by at least a two goal margin.
That’s 10/3 on the enhanced treble with Paddy Power. Best of luck to those following the selections, please always gamble responsibly.
