Wolves vs Crystal Palace Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: 11/2 Bet Builder for Saturday's Premier League Clash

Hosts Wolves will be hoping that their last gasp equaliser away at Brighton last weekend can be the catalyst for an improvement in form.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace Predictions
Gary O’Neill’s men have suffered from a fixture list that includes having played 6 of last season’s top 7 within their first 8 Premier League games and the end result has been just 2 points collected having also conceded 5 more goals than any other side.
For only the second time this season they face a team in the bottom half of the table in Crystal Palace. The Eagles have had struggles of their own although they will travel to the Midlands with renewed confidence that they have turned a corner having seen off Spurs last weekend for their first victory of the season. They’ll be particularly confident of continuing that resurgence against a Wolves side whom they have beaten in 5 of the last 6 competitive meetings between the 2 sides.
Joao Gomes has averaged 39 passes per 90 minutes this season and so on the face of it, this line looks about right. However, totals of 42 and 44 against Liverpool and Aston Villa and 51 at home against Newcastle emphasise that he is capable of going well over 40 passes, even against possession heavy sides. Under Oliver Glasner, Palace average just 47% per game this season and with them sat 17th in the table, it’s not unrealistic to expect them to set up defensively away from home, allowing Wolves plenty of the ball.
A key part to this angle is that Mario Lemina looks set to miss this game having come off at half time against Brighton with a calf injury. This should mean a return to the starting line-up for Brazilian Andre and when he has played this season, Gomes’ passes have increased. The pair have started games together on 4 occasions during which Gomes’ average passes per 90 minutes has been 53.3 with his lowest total being 42. In both fixtures between these sides last season, Gomes covered this line with totals of 41 and 43 and in particular, Lemina’s pass counts of 70 and 51 suggest what Gomes could hit with him absent from the team.

I’ve covered why Gomes could hit a higher line for passes already but to bump up the price for a betbuilder, we’re also adding in the Brazilian to commit at least 1 foul. Across both meetings last season, he committed 5 fouls against Palace. Fast forward to this season and he has more fouls than any other Wolves player and has committed 2.53 fouls per 90 with at least 1 foul in 8 of his 10 appearances. In the middle of the park he’ll be opposing a combination of Eze, Wharton and Lerma who have been fouled a combined 5.38 times per 90 and without the usually combative Lemina, much of the defensive work looks set to fall to Gomes.
The final leg of our betbuilder is for Wolves frontman Jorgen Larsen to have a shot on target. The Norwegian has been one of the few bright sparks of Wanderers’ season with 3 goals to his name. He has averaged 0.97 shots on target per 90 this season and has landed at least 1 in 7 of his 9 games with 4 in his last 3. Palace have allowed 9 shots on target from opposition central strikers this season and with Glasner’s men conceding the 9th most efforts on goal of any Premier League side this season, Larsen should get plenty of chances to hit the target.
