Watford vs Chelsea Odds: Alonso to provide an assist at Vicarage Road

There are six games in the Premier League on Wednesday evening that can all be seen live on Amazon Prime. Watford take on title challengers Chelsea at Vicarage Road and we’ve previewed the game along with our best bets for the 19:30pm kick-off.
Watford have a worrying list of absentees against Chelsea on Wednesday including Ismaila Sarr, Ken Sema, Peter Etebo and Ben Foster through injury. Adam Masina, Emmanuel Dennis and Juraj Kucka are all doubtful and will be assessed on the day of the game.
Chelsea will be without Ben Chilwell for a month or two after the injury he picked up against Juventus. The left-back joins Mateo Kovacic and N’golo Kante on the sidelines. Timo Werner, Reece James and Jorginho are all a doubt for the game with Watford.
There have been over 2.5 goals in all over the last eight meetings between Watford and Chelsea and a repeat is priced at 3/4 with Betfair this week. The Hornets have been hit and miss under Ranieri, conceding five to Liverpool, putting five past Everton, beating Manchester United, before a 4-2 loss at Leicester last weekend. Their games certainly have been entertaining but it’s hard to look past Chelsea and their form under Tuchel despite the Blues dropping points at home to Manchester United on Sunday despite them dominating the xG with 2.86 to just 0.88 of the visitors.

Watford vs Chelsea Tips
In their last two matches Chelsea have taken 24 shots against Manchester United, and 21 against Juventus. When watching the Blues it feels like wave after wave when it comes to their attacks with their relenting nature. We fully expect Tuchel’s men to get the job done against Watford on Wednesday and one player we fancy to provide an assist in the game is Marcos Alonso.
The attacking-minded full-back should start the game in the absence of Ben Chilwell and at 4/1 he looks a good proposition for an anytime assist with Paddy Power.
Alonso is averaging 2 key passes per game in the league this season and has one assist to his name. Chelsea have been threatening at corners this season and with six goals from set-pieces their defenders have been a prominent feature on the scoresheet. As well as finding himself in the final-third on regular occasions, Alonso is also a corner taker for Chelsea and with this in mind we are happy to take the 4/1 for an assist with that currently the best price available.
For those looking for something at a bit bigger of a price, we’ve also lined up a bet builder double courtesy of Paddy Power. By pairing up the Marcos Alonso to register an assist with Watford’s Moussa Sissoko to be carded in the game punters can get 20/1 on what looks an attractive little double.
The long-legged Frenchman will no doubt be kept busy in the middle of the park and has been cautioned twice in 11 appearances so far this term which have both come against ‘big-six’ sides in Arsenal and Tottenham. In his final season with Spurs in 2019/2020 Sissoko was shown eight yellows in just 29 appearances and we fancy him to pick up another off referee David Coote against Chelsea.
Referee David Coote was one of the better referees in the Premier League last season when it came to showing yellows with an average of 3.10 per game. This campaign he’s taken control of six matches and has shown 31 yellows with an average of 5.17 per game and with this in mind we’re hoping for plenty at Vicarage Road.
Thanks to Paddy Power’s bet builder algorithm you can get 20/1 on Alonso to make an assist along with a card for Sissoko despite the two selections only being priced at 4/1 and 23/10. Best of luck to anyone following the picks.
