Tottenham v West Ham Tips: Kane's creativity a factor to consider in assist market

Tottenham v West Ham looks the pick of the games in the Premier League on Sunday with both sides looking for their third league win of the season. The match kicks off at 16:30 and can be seen live on Sky Sports Premier League.
Gareth Bale has been in full training with Spurs this week and is available for selection, although it is most likely he will start from the substitutes bench. Eric Dier is also an injury doubt for Jose Mourinho’s side along with Japhet Tanganga, Giovanni Lo Celso and Stephen Bergwijn.
Craig Dawson could make his first start for West Ham after arriving on loan from Watford. David Moyes will be at the stadium as he returns after contracting Covid-19 the other week. Arthur Masuaku and Ryan Fredricks are the only doubts for the Hammers ahead of this London derby.
Spurs have been made the 4/7 favourites with the bookmakers to win the game - an implied 64% chance of victory. The draw is available to be backed at 10/3 with a win for David Moyes side priced at 9/2 with most firms. I’ve picked out three selections I like the look of ahead of the game - best of luck to those following
Spurs to win & both teams to score - 1.5pts @ 2/1 BetVictor, bet365
Harry Kane to make an assist - 1pt @ 9/2 Betfair / Paddy Power
Harry Kane 2+ shots on target, Ndombele & Soucek to be carded - 0.25pts @35/1 Paddy Power
The first selection I’ve picked out for Sunday’s game in the capital is Tottenham to win and both teams to score, available at 2/1 with either BetVictor or bet365. Jose Mourinho’s Spurs went down 1-0 to a hard working Everton side on the opening day of the season but since then they are on a run of seven games unbeaten in all competitions.
Of those seven games Spurs have won five, but more importantly they have conceded in every single one, meaning both teams to score has landed in their last seven games. West Ham have scored seven goals over their last two league matches against Wolves and Leicester. This game looks primed for plenty of goals but ultimately Tottenham should come out on top with the quality they possess in the final third of the pitch.
Next up I’m backing Harry Kane to make an assist in the match, priced at 9/2 with both Betfair and Paddy Power. Creativity in front of goal seems to have been an untapped area of Harry Kane’s game before this season but under Jose Mourinho’s guidance he already has twice as many assists as anyone else in the Premier League this season.
Almost 19% of Kane’s entire assists for Spurs have come in the first four Premier League games of this season. The 27-year-old ranks first in the Premier League for both assists and big chances created this season and I’m surprised to see him at 9/2 in the betting market with names such as Erik Lamela and Dele Alli priced at 11/10 and 7/5. As mentioned earlier, I think there will be plenty of goals here and I’m having a small play on Kane to make an assist at 9/2.
I’ve also picked out something at a bit more of a price for the optimists out there. At 35/1 with Paddy Power, I’ve opted for Harry Kane to have two or more shots on target, with both Tanguy Ndombele and Tomas Soucek to be carded.
Besides leading the way in the assist rankings this season Harry Kane has also had more shots on target than any other player in the Premier League with ten. The 27-year-old is the penalty taker for the club and is averaging an impressive 2.5 shots on target per game so far this campaign. I’m starting this Same Game Multi off with Kane to register two or more shots on target against West Ham on Sunday.
The second element of this 35/1 selection is Tanguy Ndombele to be carded for Tottenham. The defensive midfielder was carded three times in 12 starts over last season’s PL campaign and he’s already picked up a booking this season. He’s better priced than some of his counterparts and I fancy him to pick up another card here.
Rounding off proceedings is West Ham’s Tomas Soucek to be carded. Out of all the players to have featured in the Premier League so far this season, only one has committed more fouls than Thomas Soucek, in Steven Alzate of Brighton. Soucek has committed 13 fouls already and is yet to receive a card but I think this run comes to an end on Saturday against Spurs.
