Tottenham vs. Sporting Lisbon Betting Tips: King Kane can score his sixth header of the season

Tottenham vs Sporting Lisbon Odds
Tottenham welcome Sporting Lisbon to the capital on Wednesday evening as the pair face off in Matchday 5 of the Champions League group stages. Just four points separate the quartet of sides in Group D heading into this round of fixtures and here at BettingOdds.com we’ve provided you with two bets that we like the look of.
Tottenham have taken seven points from a possible 12 so far in the Champions League and can secure a place in the knockout stages with a win here on Wednesday. Spurs will be wary of their opponents after Sporting gave them a 2-0 thumping in Lisbon back in September, with the hosts looking a little short in the win market here at just 1/2.
The Portuguese side currently sit third in the Group D standings, and will have been disappointed with their back-to-back defeats against Marseille in Matchdays 3 and 4. Sporting had three different players sent off across those two matches and will be desperate to get back to the kind of performance they showed against Spurs in the reverse fixture when Arthur Gomes and Paulinho found the net.
Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski and Japhet Tanganga are all out injured for Antonio Conte’s side with Cristian Romero and Pierre Hojberg both a doubt.
Sporting manager Ruben Amorim was heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa last week, but he remains focused on his job in Portugal, although he is missing up to six of his squad here through injury and suspension.
Tottenham vs Sporting Lisbon Tips
Thankfully for England and their hopes at the World Cup, Harry Kane seems to be hitting form at just the right time and we are backing the Tottenham talisman to have over one shot on target against Sporting Lisbon.
In the Premier League this season, Kane has managed nine goals, scoring in eight of his 12 appearances. When it comes to hitting the target, the 29-year-old has cleared the 2+ mark in four of his last five for Spurs, and when looking back further at his PL record that stretches to eight in the last ten.
William Hill are offering even money here on Kane to record over one shot on target, with other firms such as BetVictor, Betfair and Paddy Power going just 1/2. Even bet365 have this same selection at just 8/11, and we think this is a nice value pick to hopefully yield some profit in London.
Regular readers here at BettingOdds will be aware that one of our best contributors @DeanWoodward93 has been making punters a small fortune this season by recommending certain bets surrounding Harry Kane at some incredibly generous prices. Most recently, Dean recommended Kane to score a header against Newcastle at the weekend, for which he truly obliged at 11/1 with a goal from one yard out, ten minutes into the second half.
If it’s not broken, why fix it, is somewhat of our thinking behind once again backing Kane to score with his head, this time at the slightly shorter 8/1 with either bet365 or Unibet. We do however certainly think that this is a price that has some juice left in it considering five of Harry Kane’s Premier League goals this season have come courtesy of his head. Sporting have shown some poor discipline and have been inconsistent in their performances in recent weeks, failing to manage back-to-back wins since September 13. If Ruben Amorim’s side are not quick out of the traps on Wednesday we fear it could lead to an onslaught of goals for Spurs with Kane hopefully bagging his sixth header of the season.
