Spurs v Fulham Tips: Sonny to strike for lucky number 13 this season

It’s Tottenham v Fulham in the Premier League at 8:15pm on Wednesday evening in a rescheduled fixture. Spurs should have been facing Aston Villa on January 13th, however a Coronavirus outbreak in the Villa camp has led to Fulham stepping in to play a game that was scheduled to go ahead two weeks ago.
Giovani Lo Celso is the only injury concern for the home side. Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg should be fine to start the game after picking up a nasty gash on his shin in the 2-0 League Cup semi-final win over Brentford.
Scott Parker has a fully fit squad available for selection in this London Derby. His main dilemma is which two to start in attack from Aleksandar Mitrovic, Ademola Lookman and Ivan Cavaleiro.
Unsurprisingly Spurs are the heavy favourites to win the game, priced at 2/5 for the three points, an implied probability of 71%. The draw is available at 4/1, with a huge away win for Fulham on offer at 7/1 with Betfair.
Son Heung-Min to score anytime - 2.5pts @ 21/20 bet365
Mario Lemina to be carded - 1pt @ 9/2 bet365
Son Heung-Min 1+ shot on target, Harry Winks & Bobby Reid to be carded - 0.25pts @ 40/1 Paddy Power
- Only Mohamed Salah has more goals in the league this season than Son with 12
- The Korean has been clinical this campaign with a staggering 57% of his shots hitting the back of the net
- Generously priced at odds-against with bet365 whereas William Hill go 8/11
Followers of my column on BettingOdds.com will know that I’ve successfully put up Son Heung-Min to score a few times this season in my selections and I’m doing so again on Wednesday evening. The Korean is priced at 21/20 to score with bet365 and marginally shorter at even money with Betfair and Paddy Power.
Only Mohamed Salah has scored more goals than Son Heung-Min this season, who has an impressive 12 in 16 appearances. The 28-year-old has been one of the most clinical players in the league this season with a staggering 57% goal conversion. That’s 12 league goals from just 21 shots this campaign and I fancy him to make it lucky number 13 against relegation battlers Fulham.
- Paul Tierney in charge who ranks 2nd of 19 when it comes to yellows per game shown by Premier League referees this season with 4.2 pg
- Lemina was booked five times in 21 games in his final season for Southampton before picking up three in four Champions League games for Galatasaray last season
- Generously priced at 9/2 with Sky bet and William Hill going 21/10
Paul Tierney is the referee for the game on Wednesday evening. The official currently holds the second highest yellows per game average in the Premier League for the 19 who have taken charge of matches this season. With 4.2 yellows being shown on average by Tierney I think there’s a good chance we could see a flurry of cards at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with one of those hopefully going to Fulham’s Mario Lemina.
The former Southampton midfielder is 9/2 to be carded on bet365, which looks a fair price in comparison to the 21/10 showing from both Sky Bet and William Hill. A player with a proven yellow card record, Lemina picked up five in 21 appearances for Southampton in his final season before moving to Galatasaray. The midfielder from Gabon picked up four yellow cards in 20 appearances for the Turks as well as another three in just four Champions League games last season. The 27-year-old only has one yellow in the league from his five starts this term, but looks primed for his second against a hard working Spurs midfield.
- Son Heung-Min has registered at least one shot on target in five of his last six games and has 12 league goals this term
- Harry Winks has been booked four times in seven games this season. He picked up nine in 31 appearances last term
- No player has picked up more yellows for Fulham this season than Bobby Reid with four.
With Tierney in charge I do feel as though there’s a good chance of a few cards being shown here and I’ve also picked out a 40/1 selection with Paddy Power that includes two other players to be carded.
I’ve opted for Son Heung-Min to have at least one shot on target, with both Harry Winks and Bobby Reid to be carded. Sonny has registered at least one shot on target in five of his last six games. He’s the top scorer for Spurs in the league this season and with Sky Bet having this at 1/7, I’m willing to push up the price of this Bet Builder with Paddy Power going 1/3 for a Son shot on target.
Harry Winks could well start in the middle of the park for Jose Mourinho’s side along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. No player has been booked more times for Spurs this season than Winks with four cautions. The midfielder, who has only made five starts and two substitute appearances, is no stranger to a caution with an impressive nine in 31 games last season and he is a player that makes plenty of appeal here with Tierney in charge.
I’ve also included in this 40/1 shot Fulham’s most booked player in the league this season, Bobby Reid to be cautioned once more. I expect the former Cardiff man to set up as a wing-back rather than a right winger against Spurs and with the pace of Son Heung-Min as his direct opponent I think he could be in for a long night. Reid has been booked four times in 11 starts this season and hopefully can make it five on Wednesday night.
The game can be seen live on Amazon Prime Video at 8:15pm. Good luck to anyone following the selections and please always gamble responsibly.
