Southampton vs. Leicester Betting Tips: Back Callum Doyle in the fouls market
Friday night looks like a cracker in the Championship with Hull taking on Coventry and Leicester facing Southampton. Below you can find two tips for the game from the King Power stadium including a 5/2 poke that has landed in four of five matches so far this season.
Southampton will be looking to bounce back from the humiliation of a 5-0 thrashing at Sunderland in their most recent league outing before the international break. Saints have collected 10 points from their five matches so far and despite conceding more goals than another team in the league, they remain the second favourites in the Promotion market, priced at 13/8 with most betting sites.
Leicester City also suffered their first league defeat of the campaign on their most recent outing. The Foxes were beaten 1-0 on the road at Hull and are now third in the table, level on points with Ipswich in second and one point behind the early league leaders Preston.
Taking a look at the match result odds for this Friday night encounter and Southampton are the favourites to take all three points priced at 7/5. The draw is on offer at 12/5, while an away win for Leicester that would see them return to the top of the table is chalked up at 19/10 with most firms.
Southampton vs Leicester Tips
The first selection we think is worth getting behind on Friday is for Callum Doyle to give away two or more fouls in the game. At the time of writing Paddy Power and Betfair are the only bookmakers to have priced up the player fouls market and we think the 5/2 that is on show for Callum Doyle looks a generous price.
Doyle spent last year on loan at Coventry City and in July he signed for Leicester on a season-long loan. Across his five league appearances this season, Doyle has conceded 15 fouls, with totals of: 3,1,3,5,3. That is almost double the amount of fouls that any other Foxes player has given away this season, with Harry Winks having the next highest total with 8. Looking back a little further Doyle also gave away 2+ fouls in three of his final five games for Coventry last season and all things considered, 5/2 looks too big here in our eyes.
We’ve also had some small change on a little bet builder double consisting of Adam Armstrong to score and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to record 1+ shot on target at 9/2. No player has scored more goals than Armstrong in the Championship so far with the former Blackburn Rovers forward leading the way with four goals along with another handful of players. Armstrong looks much more suited to life in the second-tier compared to Premier League where he struggled and with him being the penalty taker for Saints and having scored in three of his five outings so far this season, he looks a good prospect to find the net again here with 2/1 on show as a single with Paddy Power.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall bagged a brace on the opening weekend of the season and has been taking up a more advanced role this term for Leicester. The talented midfielder could well prove himself as one of the best in the division this season and when it comes to shots on target he has cleared the 1+ line in four of his five league matches.
This double pays just 3/1 with bet365, so we’re recommending the much more healthy offering of 9/2 that is available with Paddy Power or Betfair.
