Sheffield United v Manchester United Tips: United to convert from the spot against Blades

Sheffield United host Manchester United on Thursday evening with the Blades still seeking their first win of the season. Just like the other nine midweek Premier League matches in Gameweek 13, viewers can tune in to Amazon Prime at 20:00 to watch the game. We’ve a full range of football tips on BettingOdds.com for Thursday’s two fixtures and @AnthonyEadson has previewed the action with three plays he likes the look of.
Jack O’Connell is the only confirmed absentee for Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United, however Oli McBurnie is a doubt after suffering a shoulder injury against Southampton.
Expect to see numerous changes from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United look ahead to a busy Christmas schedule. Anthony Martial is likely to come back into the starting XI after being unwell and only fit enough for the bench at the weekend. Alex Telles could replace Luke Shaw at left-back who has only just recovered from a hamstring injury.
These two teams played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at Bramall Lane in this fixture last season and a repeat of the draw happening is priced at 7/2. A win for the hosts is priced at 13/2 with most firms giving Manchester United a 69% implied probability of victory with odds of 4/9
Manchester United to score a penalty - 1pt @ 10/3 bet365
Sander Berge to be carded - 1pt @ 13/2 Bet,Victor
Fernandes 1+ shot on target, Stevens & Maguire to be carded - 0.25pts @ 38/1 Betfair
Michael Oliver is the man in the middle for Thursday night’s game between Sheffield United and Manchester United and his appointment is one of my main angles into why I’m backing the away side to score a penalty, priced at 10/3.
Despite being slightly shorter price than what I’ve advised this selection over previous months I still think 10/3 could be a reasonable play here considering Michael Oliver is averaging 0.8 per game this season. That’s eight penalties awarded in total from the ten games he has taken control of this season.
Combine that with the fact that Manchester United have been awarded an eye watering 31 penalties in all competitions, since the start of the 2019/20 season and we have a bet. Bruno Fernandes has scored 13 of his 14 penalties for Solskjaer’s side since joining in January and were one to be awarded, I’d be confident of him dispatching it with ease.
Followers of my Premier League card plays column will have seen that Sander Berge let down my 191/1 cards treble this weekend with two of my three selections landing. I’m sticking with the Norweigan after backing him twice in recent weeks to no avail and at the boosted price of 13/2 with BetVictor I am very interested.
Sander ‘Bergerac’ Berge has been booked more times than any other player at Sheffield United this season with four cautions in the league. Things are not going well at Sheffield United at the moment and I think they could boil over should things go against them on Thursday evening. With one point from 12 games so far I fear that the reality of the situation could set in and lead to some frustration from the hosts.
I’ve also picked out a Same Game Multi from Betfair for this clash. It weighs in at 38/1 and consists of Bruno Fernandes to have one or more shots on target with both Enda Stevens and Harry Maguire to be carded.
I’ve also picked out a Same Game Multi from Betfair for this clash. It weighs in at 38/1 and consists of Bruno Fernandes to have one or more shots on target with both Enda Stevens and Harry Maguire to be carded.
It’s no secret how much influence Bruno Fernandes has had on Manchester United since arriving in January. When it comes to shots on target the Portuguese playmaker has registered at least one on target in all eight of his most recent starts for the club. Penalty taker and free-kick taker, it’s hard to see Fernandes not landing a shot on target against the side who currently sit bottom of the league.
The first of two players I’m fancying to pick up a card in this 38/1 shot is Sheffield United’s Enda Stevens. The Irishman has been booked twice in nine appearances so far this term and to follow that up he picked up seven over the course of last season.
Harry Maguire is a player who has featured regularly in my selections for players to be carded this term. The Manchester United captain has picked up three cards in the league this season and a further two in the Champions League. The 27-year-old was also sent off for England back in the Autumn and I’m rather surprised to still see him being priced up so much bigger than his counterparts for United.
That’s 38/1 at the time of writing for that Same Game Multi with Betfair. Let’s hope for an entertaining game just as we got here last season, best of luck to anyone following and please gamble responsibly.
