Serie A Odds: Can Jose Mourinho’s Roma win Scudetto after flying start?

Jose Mourinho added yet another passionate celebration to his iconic collection after Roma scored a dramatic injury-time winner against Sassuolo in his 1000th competitive match in management.
With the score level at 1-1 in the 91st minute, up stepped Stephan El Shaarawy who curled home a beautiful shot in off the post to spark absolute bedlam at the Stadio Olimpico.
Cue Mourinho running wildly and pumping his fist in the air in pure joy as he celebrated his landmark 1000th match in style.
“During the week I was a liar, saying it wasn’t a special match,” the Roma manager said after the game. “But it was a special match.
“It was a match with a special number for me and I always wanted to remember a match like this for my 1000th game. I lied to everyone!
“It could have ended 6 to 6, 7 to 7, Rui Patricio came up with two miracles, we missed a few goals. Extraordinary game, a tremendous emotion.
“Today I am not 58, but 14, when you start dreaming of a career in football. It was a child’s race, I apologised to [Sassuolo manager, Alessio] Dionisi, they played a fantastic game.”
Mourinho, who became the 33rd manager in the modern era of European football to accumulate 1000 matches, has now accrued three wins from three games which subsequently puts Roma top of Serie A.
When we previewed the Italian top-flight earlier in the summer, Mourinho’s men were priced out at 18/1 to win the Scudetto in his debut season. Three games in and I Giallorossi have been cut to as short as 5/1 with some bookmakers, while you can back them at a best-priced 9/1 with Betfred.
Stefano Pioli’s AC Milan and Luciano Spalletti’s Napoli also boast a 100% winning record after three fixtures. Simone Inzaghi has registered seven points at new club and defending champions Inter Milan, and Maurizio Sarri has two wins at Lazio.
Meanwhile, it’s been a shocking return for Max Allegri at Juventus who are all the way down in 16th with one point from a possible nine so far this season.
