Senegal vs Guinea Odds: Senegal to grind another win out in Group B

Friday afternoon sees the return of AFCON favourites Senegal in their second Group B clash. The Lions of Teranga looked anything but the tournament favs in their opener and only scraped a win against Zimbabwe due to a hotly disputed 97th minute Sadio Mane penalty. They'll be aiming to look more convincing against a Guinea team who also won their opener. The game is broadcast live on Sky Sports at 13:00 and we've asked OddsTerrier to provide us with two picks for this early afternoon kick off.
Both these teams still have big issues relating to Covid; Eight Senegalese players were unavailable for their opener and it's not clear which of those will be available for selection. Guinea have had seven players either test positive or isolating also and there will be headaches for both coaches, playing players in unfamiliar roles.
Senegal are ranked no 20 in the FIFA rankings, whilst Guinea are way back in 81st so on paper this should be a mismatch, but as this tournament has shown, the games have all been incredibly tight and I have no reason to believe this one will be anything different.
Senegal vs Guinea Tips
First up we've had a look at the Match Odds market and we like the look of Senegal here. Make no mistake, Senegal were very disappointing in their opening game but they have been heavily affected by Covid and were under huge pressure as tournament favourites. With a win under their belt and players returning from isolation, they should start to relax here and get down to the business of playing some football.
Guinea played ok in their opening game against a Covid-ravaged Malawi team and scraped over the line 1-0. They are up against a far better unit here and whilst I foresee this one remaining tight I think the quality of Senegal will see them scoring against the National Elephants.
The 4/5 on offer at BetFred is too good to turn down. Pre tournament, it would have been far shorter.
Our second selection is with app-based bookmaker SBK. We like the look of the 1-0 on the Correct Score market. Of the twelve games played thus far in AFCON 2021, nine have ended with a 1-0 score line - a remarkable tally. Senegal certainly didn't look free-flowing in their opener and Guinea will be tough to break down. They have switched to a flat 3-5-2 formation for this tournament and it has certainly helped them out defensively. I think the quality of Mane will eventually shine through and he will be the spare for the Senegal goal. Whether that comes from the penalty spot again or in open play is up for debate.
You can take the 1-0 score at 37/10.
