Record-breaking Reds: Liverpool have been really good this season

Liverpool are on the cusp of winning the Premier League for the first time in their 127-year history, after a magnificent campaign which has so far seen the Reds amass a stunning 79 points from a potential 81 on offer. In doing so, the Merseyside giants will end a 30 year wait for top-flight dominance - few would argue that it is thoroughly deserved.
Already this season, Liverpool have broken an array of different records. The Reds have won 21 consecutive home games - more than any other side in Premier League history - alongside recording the most amount of points ever at this stage of the campaign. Jurgen Klopp’s side have always been extremely talented in the attacking third, with players like Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane cementing themselves as the best forward line in the business in recent seasons.
However, defensively there have been question marks surrounding Liverpool’s ability to shut out the opposition and keep clean sheets. Those questions have been answered in resounding style this term, though, with the Reds conceding just 17 goals in 27 games alongside keeping 12 clean sheets (and counting).
While Jose Mourinho’s somewhat freakish title-winning Chelsea side of 2004-05 still hold the record for fewest goals conceded across an entire Premier League campaign (15), Liverpool have so far come the closest to breaking the ‘Special One’s’ seemingly unbreakable record set 15 years ago.
After achieving what appeared to be the unthinkable two years ago, Manchester City’s class of 2017-18 are already facing the prospect of losing their ‘centurions’ crown. Pep Guardiola’s dominant Sky Blues blitzed the league by achieving 100 points the season before last, with most believing that it would be years - perhaps even decades - before a similar feat would be achieved or even surpassed.
Indeed, just two years on, Liverpool are well on their way to matching that tally and potentially bettering it by some distance. The maximum points total the Reds can achieve this term is 112 - they are currently just 21 points off reaching 100 with still 33 points left to play for. Barring a monumental collapse from now until the start of May, it seems a nailed on certainty that Liverpool will break City’s record with relative ease before going on to set a brand new one, which really would be viewed as unattainable.
BetVictor have priced up a number of Liverpool-related specials that punters can jump on ahead of their next league match against Watford this weekend. The majority of which are extremely short, it must be said, with the Reds to reach 100+ PL points priced at just 2/7. Jurgen Klopp’s free-scoring side have scored 64 goals in the top-flight so far, and if you think that they’ll net 36 more to hit 100, BV are offering odds of 5/4. Liverpool to reach 105+ points is currently 2/1, while the Reds are 10/1 to win each of their remaining 11 league games.
On a more personal level, BetVictor are offering 2/1 for Mohamed Salah to score 25+ goals (the Egyptian is currently on 15), while Sadio Mane is 6/1 to hit the same landmark (currently on 13) and Roberto Firmino is 9/4 to hit 15 overall - the Brazilian currently has eight to his name.
