Real Madrid vs Atalanta Bet Builder Tips
With the addition of Kylian Mbappe, Real Madrid have somehow strengthened an already astounding attack. There isn't a doubt in anybody's mind that the move won't be a complete and utter success for both player and club, as Carlo Ancelotti now tinkers with how to best utilise his forward quartet of the aforementioned Frenchman, Jude Bellingham, Rodrygo and Vinicius Jr.
In recent meetings Los Blancos have been triumphant, winning their two encounters in the 2021/22 season when housed in the same Champions League group.
Atalanta will command more respect this time around, having blown an unbeaten Bayer Leverkusen at the time out of the water thanks to an unlikely Ademola Lookman hat-trick.
That result was only possible after a similar demolition job at Anfield, where they thumped three goals past Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool and maintained a clean sheet to add to the sweetness of that first leg victory.
Instead of backing a debut goal for Mbappe, we believe it pays to side with a more reliable name in white: Vinicius Jr. The mercurial forward, fresh off a rejected bid to join the Saudi Pro League, has been established as the frontrunner for this season's Ballon d'Or, along with his knack for performing on the biggest of stages.
The Brazilian scored the second goal in June's UCL final at Wembley, making that his sixth strike in Europe and his 24th across all competitions for Madrid last term. Add to that two more goals at the summer's Copa America tournament and Vini looks to be the slightly safer bet at larger odds.
Facing him will be centre-back Berat Djimsiti, who inside Atalanta's 3-4-3 formation, is likely to find himself stretched and often out wide against Madrid's 1-v-1 king.
The defender was cautioned nine times in total last season, with three of those coming when undertaking European duties for the Italian outfit.
Vini Jr drew 14 fouls from his opponents in the UCL, including three in the final with Dortmund. Couple that with the number of his partner in crime, Jude Bellingham, who likes to drift in from the left and who won 20 fouls in the Champions League last season - the fourth-highest count of any player.
