Real Madrid vs. Eintracht Frankfurt Betting Tips: Back Benzema to get on the scoresheet in 11/2 Super Cup double
Real Madrid take on Eintracht Frankfurt in the Super Cup on Wednesday, with the game being shown live on BT Sport, kicking off at 8pm. This time round, the match is taking place in Helsinki and @AnthonyEadson is on hand with two data-driven tips that he likes the look of for the game.
On their path to lifting their 14th Champions League crown, Real Madrid defeated PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City in the knockout stages, before seeing off Liverpool in the final. Los Blancos now have a chance to lift their first piece of silverware this season as they take on Frankfurt, and unsurprisingly they are the odds-on favourites to lift the trophy at around 2/9 with most bookmakers.
You should never read too much into pre-season form, however Karim Benzema scored in two of Real’s three friendlies last month and will once again be ready to lead the charge in attack for Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the forthcoming campaign. There are no major injury concerns at all for the Champions League holders who last won this trophy back in 2017.
Eintracht Frankfurt left many Scots brokenhearted after they defeated Rangers on penalties to win the Europa League. That was the club’s first European triumph since they lifted the UEFA Cup back in 1980, however this will be their first ever appearance in the Super Cup with the format previously being for the winners of the European Cup and Cup Winners Cup until 1999.
Oliver Glasner will be hoping for a drastic improvement from his side after their 6-1 thumping at home to Bayern Munich in their Bundesliga opener last friday. The Austrian head coach has already confirmed that he will be without Aurelio Buta as he recovers from knee surgery, while Jerome Onguene has been ruled out with a knee problem. Juventus are reportedly close to finalising a deal to sign Filip Kostic from Frankfurt, which is a huge blow for the Germans, with the Serbian not expected to start on Wednesday evening. After their poor display last week, the Eagles can be backed at 10/3 to lift the trophy in Helsinki.
Real Madrid vs Eintracht Frankfurt Tips
The main selection I’m touting on Wednesday comes via the bet365 Bet Builder feature, where I’m backing Real Madrid to win the game inside 90 minutes, along with Frankfurt’s Jesper Lindstrom to have at least one shot in the match. This comes out at 10/11 when combining the two picks, in comparison to just 6/10 over at Betfair and Paddy Power.
It was an abysmal start to the season last Friday for Eintracht Frankfurt and things won’t be any easier here as they take on Real Madrid. Ancelotti’s side were exceptional for large parts of last season and he’s one of the few managers across the continent who will not need to tweak much to his already winning formula heading into the new season. Alarm bells rang in the Frankfurt defence over and over in the first half against Bayern Munich on Friday and with Real’s star-studded line-up I expect a comfortable victory.
That being said, I think we can expect some opportunities for the Germans, with Real Madrid allowing their opponents 10+ shots in 15 of their most recent 17 competitive matches. Both teams to score has also landed in the last six renewals of the Super Cup, but the player i’m siding with to let off a shot is Jesper Lindstrom.
No player averaged more shots per game than the attacking midfielder for Frankfurt in the Bundesliga last season (1.9 per game), and looking back at his shooting data, he has recorded at least one shot in 22 of his last 23 starts for the club. This selection is priced at just 1/12 over at Paddy Power so I feel like we are getting a generous price here to combine with Madrid in the match result market.
Moving on to something at a bit more of a price, I’m having a small dabble on Karim Benzema to find the net in the match, as well as Vinicius Junior to provide an assist. Priced at 7/2 with both Skybet and bet365, we’ve been given a nice boost off the guys over at Paddy Power taking us up to a very backable 11/2.
Karim Benzema scored in 17 of Real Madrid’s La Liga victories last season, as well as in five of their seven victories in Europe. The Frenchman is the odds-on favourite to win this year's Ballon d’Or award after a stunning campaign scoring 15 goals in 12 Champions League matches. He may be 34, but Benzema still looks as hungry as ever and I’m backing him to get on the scoresheet against a team who he should have plenty of chances against.
Vinicius Junior was another player who had a fantastic 2021/2022 season, particularly in the Champions League where he provided six assists in 13 appearances. A nightmare for defenders with his electric pace, the Brazilian also recorded another 10 assists in Real’s title winning campaign in La Liga last term and at 11/2 for him to notch another, along with a Benzema goal in the game, this looks a decent play in my opinion.
