Reading vs. Preston Betting Tips: Side with the overpriced Ince in several markets
Friday Night Football is live from the Madejski Stadium this week, where Reading host Preston North End in the Championship. We’ve got three tips for the game that we like the look of, including a 70/1 longshot.
Before a ball was kicked this season, many punters fancied Reading to be relegated down to League One, however the Royals started the campaign with five wins in their first eight matches. Paul Ince’s side now sit 11th in the table with 26 points and arrive here off the back of a goalless midweek stalemate with Luton.
Four of Preston’s first five matches this season finished with a 0-0 scoreline but in recent weeks their matches have been a lot more lively with an average of three goals per game across their last seven.
Moving onto team news and for Reading, Mamadou Loum should come back into the side after a one game suspension, while Scott Dann, Naby Sarr, Femi Azeez and Liam Moore all remain out injured. For the visitors, Troy Parrott and Ben Whiteman will miss out due to injury with Ched Evans to be handed a start up top.
Reading vs Preston Tips
All three of our bets on Friday evening centre around Tom Ince, who we feel is overpriced in a couple of different markets. First up, we are backing the Reading manager’s son to find the net anytime in the match at 13/2. Bet365 are a stand-out top price on this selection with most other firms going around the 7/2 mark, and Boylesports going as short as 11/4.
Ince has let off more shots than any other Reading player this season (31) and is averaging 0.23 goals per 90 in the Championship. He has found the net in two of his last four fixtures and we don’t think he should be this big a price for tonight’s home game against Preston to make it three in five.
Another price-based play that we have picked out is for Tom Ince to find his way into the referee’s notebook. Paddy Power go 9/1 for Ince to be booked, which looks appealing since he has managed three yellow cards in his last seven appearances.
We’ll be having a single on the booking on Friday evening but we will also be combining both the card and anytime scorer selections via the bet365 Bet Builder feature. Against Burnley last weekend, Ince ticked both these boxes and with the double weighing in at 70/1 against Preston, we think it’s worth a bit of small change.
