Rangers vs. PSV Betting Tips: Goals expected in Champions League clash

Rangers and PSV meet once again in the exact same fixture that they played in the previous campaign, Ibrox is the destination for the opening leg in a game that’s expected to be an entertaining watch. Find below a preview of the game along with best bets from Tom Winch.
Mick Beale’s side faced Swiss outfit, Servette, in the previous round, they edged the tie 3-2 on aggregate. Since their opening-day defeat in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers have looked like a real threat in attacking areas but defensively, they still have a few issues.
PSV couldn’t have started their 23/24 campaign any better, they won the Dutch Super Cup, won both league clashes and wiped the floor with Sturm Graz, their previous round opposition, beating them 7-2 on aggregate.
Since their meeting at the Philips Stadion, in Eindhoven, Rangers have failed to keep a clean sheet in this competition, a run stretching 8 games which has seen them concede a whopping 24 times. I can’t see that streak ending here, especially with an impressive PSV side heading to Glasgow.
Rangers vs PSV Tips
Instantly, backing goals springs to mind, these two clubs have plenty of attacking talent. Rangers have added Dessers, Lammers, Sila and Danilo to their ranks over the summer. The quartet have all scored this season, Danilo will have fond memories of playing PSV, the Brazilian bagged twice in three starts against them when playing in Holland.
PSV are slight favourites here, you’d be brave to back against Rangers, especially at home. Beale hasn’t lost here as Rangers boss since he took over in November (15 Wins & 2 Draws) Peter Bosz is a new name in the away dugout, he’s a no-nonsense coach and isn’t afraid to make changes at any point during the 90.
Luuk De Jong is the danger man for the Dutch side, the 32-year-old has been involved in six goals across his last four outings. The clash here last season finished 2-2 and I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if we saw a very similar scoreline. You can back that same scoreline at odds of 12/1 if you’re feeling lucky.
Captain Fantastic, James Tavernier, is always ready for a big occasion. The full-back is an attractive price to get himself on the scoresheet on Tuesday night and is in a fine scoring mood after bagging in each leg in the previous round.
Free-kicks and penalties will only have one name on them, that being Tav, and we all know about his attacking capabilities from open play. With Rangers wanting to gain an advantage heading into the clash in Eindhoven, they’ll want to play on the front foot and score a couple at the very least in front of the home fans.
We’re in for an exciting encounter here on Tuesday night, goals look the way to go from a betting perspective.
