PSG v Man City Prediction: Expect the tackles to fly in for Champions League clash

Live on BT Sports, PSG host Manchester City in the Champions League this Tuesday at the Parc Des Princes at 8pm. Both these sides are currently the joint favourites to win the Champions League so this is expected to be a blockbuster clash.
They met in last year’s semi-final and Manchester City beat them home and away but now with a front 3 of Neymar, Mbappe and Messi, the hosts will be out for revenge. PSG have had a shaky start to their UCL campaign with a disappointing draw against the Belgian side Club Brugge, a game they were expected to win quite comfortably. However, they have a 100% winning record in Ligue 1 as they have collected a total of 24/24 points from their first eight games and will hope their front men can hurt Manchester City’s resilient defence.
PSG v Man City Tips
The visitors come into this game off the back of an impressive away win at the home of the European Champions Chelsea. It was undoubtedly their best performance of the season as they did not concede a single shot on target and dominated Chelsea from start to finish. They have the best defence in England at the moment, having conceded just one goal on the opening day against Tottenham.
However, they will have to be at their very best if they are to stop the likes of Mbappe, Neymar and Messi from scoring against them. City have already made a great start to their UCL campaign with a 6-3 win against Leipzig and will be out to win their 4th consecutive game against PSG in the champions league. A mouth watering clash awaits us and as usual, I have my three best bets listed below:
Team News:
Angel Di Maria is suspended for PSG and Ramos is out injured while Verratti and Messi are doubtful to start but are in the squad.
Benjamin Mendy and Gundogan are out for Manchester City while Zinchenko is doubtful.
PSG possible starting lineup:
Navas; Hakimi, Marquinhos, Kimpembe, Diallo; Gueye, Paredes, Herrera; Messi, Mbappe, Neyma
Manchester City possible starting lineup:
Ederson; Walker, Dias, Stones, Cancelo; B. Silva, Fernandinho, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Torres, Grealish
PSG v Man City Odds
This game just screams goals to me. Even though it is yet to properly click, PSG still have one of the world’s best attacks at the moment with Messi, Neymar and Mbappe up front but still have question marks over their defence.
Manchester City have scored in their last 9/10 away games in the champions league and this bet also won in both their meetings with PSG at the Parc Des Princes last year and in 2016. City have kept things tight in the league but their UCL game against Leipzig was a goal-fest, ending in a 6-3 win in their favour.
I am expecting a highly entertaining clash on Tuesday night so I am backing Over 2.5 goals & BTTS @ 9/10 with a 1pt stake.
- Over 0 cards in the 2nd half for PSG
- Over 0 cards in the 2nd half for Man City
- Over 20.5 freekicks in the match for both teams combined
With a card-happy ref Carlos Del Cerro Grande in charge of this game and two of the competition's favourites going head to head, I do expect a game with plenty of cards. A card for either side in the second half is usually a banker in the games that this ref takes charge of. Also, with the likes of Messi, Neymar, Jack Grealish and Kevin DeBruyne potentially all involved, I can see plenty of free kicks being awarded. Take this Bet Builder with a 1pt stake.
Important note: Fernandinho is the likely starter here but if Rodri starts in his place, take him instead.
I expect Man City’s defensive midfielder to struggle against the likes of Neymar and Messi and can see them picking up a yellow card. Gueye is averaging the most fouls for PSG so far this season and got a red card last time he played against Manchester City.
Mbappe scored 42 goals for PSG last season in all competitions and eight goals in 10 appearances in the Champions League. He will have the likes of Neymar and Messi supplying balls to him and he will be fired up to score against one of the best teams in Europe. These three picks combined give us a cracking longshot @ 24/1 and I am happy to take that with a very small 0.25pt stake.
Best of luck if you follow these selections. Please always gamble responsibly.
