PSG vs. Dortmund Betting Tips: Malen a huge price to hit the target in Paris
The Champions League Group Stage begins this week with eight matches taking place on Tuesday evening. Paris Saint-Germain take on Borussia Dortmund in the French capital and we’ve asked Anthony Eadson to preview the action and provide us with his best bets.
Group F looks an absolute cracker with four European giants all being drawn in the group of death. PSG and Dortmund face off in Matchday 1, while AC Milan take on Newcastle in Italy.
It has not been a great start to the domestic season for the Parisiens who are now beginning a new era without Neymar and Lionel Messi. Luis Enqiue’s side have only won two of their first five league matches this season and sit three points behind leaders Monaco in the Ligue 1 table. Taking a look at the Champions League winner market and PSG can be sided with at 16/1 to lift the trophy in June.
Borussia Dortmund have also had a rather disappointing start to their 2023/24 league campaign failing to beat Bochum and Heidenheim in their first four matches. Despite those two draws, Edin Terzic’s men are now unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions and will be desperate not to start this tricky Group with a defeat at the hands of PSG.
PSG vs Dortmund Tips
The first selection I’m touting on Tuesday arrives from the player shots on target market, where I’ve taken a lean towards Donyell Malen clearing the 0.5 line. At the time of writing this can be backed at 10/11 with Unibet, implying 52.4% chance of success.
The 24-year-old has had a really positive start to the season, scoring four goals across his first five matches in all competitions. When it comes to shots on target the Dutchman has tested goalkeepers in all five matches he has featured in with totals of: 2,1,1,4,1.
I fancy a high scoring game affair between these two sides with plenty of attacking talent on show. BetVictor have Malen priced at 4/9 to land a shot on target in Paris, while bet365 go slightly bigger at 8/15, giving plenty of appeal to the 10/11 on show with Unibet.
I’ve also had a small play on both Kylian Mbappe to score and Marius Wolf to be carded at 15/2 with bet365. It may be worth having a little shop around closer to kick-off as more betting sites release their prices on the card markets.
As we all know, this can often be a competition where Kylian Mbappe comes alive and without fellow stars of previous years in attack, more impetus will be on him to provide the goals for his side.
Mbappe has started the Ligue 1 season in blistering form scoring a brace on all three of his starts, while he also found the net in a 39 minute cameo off the bench at the weekend. PSG have scored at least two goals in their last three matches and Mbappe can continue his hot streak against Dortmund.
Marius Wolf should have his hands full on Tuesday evening and will be the direct opponent of Mbappe. The pace and trickery of the Frenchman is enough to give anyone a headache and I’m backing him to pick up a card off referee Jesus Gil Manzano who dished out ten yellows the last time he took control of a Champions League match involving Dortmund.
