Premier League Top London Club Odds 22/23: Spurs & Chelsea Joint-Favourites from the Capital

The new Premier League season gets underway in a month's time and here at BettingOdds.com we’ll be guiding you through a few of the ante-post markets that punters have at their disposal and hopefully pointing you in the right direction of a few winners. Today’s we’ve focussed our attention on a market that is currently available with William Hill and BetVictor for which top-flight team will finish the season as the ‘Top London Club’.
This market is settled by which team finishes highest in the Premier League table come the end of the campaign and its Spurs and Chelsea who cannot be split by the bookmakers at the head of this season’s market, both priced at 5/4.
Tottenham - 5/4
Spurs finished last season strongly to beat their North London rivals Arsenal to the fourth and final Champions League spot in the Premier League, losing just one of their last seven matches. That good form under Antonio Conte has resulted in bookmakers making Tottenham the joint favorites to be the ‘Top London Club’ next season with odds of 5/4.
Dejan Kulusevski was a key player for Spurs in their quest for fourth last season providing five goals and eight assists since arriving in January. Rodrigo Bentancur also put in some classy performances in the second half of the campaign and with the Lilywhites already making some smart signings in Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Richarlison, they look like a squad who is much more prepared to competitive in numerous competitions in the forthcoming campaign.
Chelsea - 5/4
There’s a certain amount of uncertainty around how Chelsea will perform this season as a new era begins without Roman Abramovich. New owner Todd Boehly has vowed to bring success to Stamford Bridge and his club can also be backed at 5/4, for those who fancy Chelsea to finish as the Top London Club, something they have achieved in the last four consecutive seasons.
The Blues have been linked with several high-profile transfers in recent weeks from Robert Lewandowski to Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling. However, none of the potential arrivals to Chelsea have been quite as eye-catching as Cristiano Ronaldo, who at the time of writing is 5/4 to swap Manchester for London this window. Todd Boehly reportedly held a meeting with Jorge Mendes in Portugal last week and the idea of bringing Ronaldo to the Bridge had been discussed. Whatever happens this summer, Chelsea look intent on bringing in a couple of big signings which could see their price in this market shorten, so we’d be advising take the price now, should you want the Blues onside in this market.

Arsenal - 7/2
Next up we have Arsenal, who are currently being offered at 7/2 to finish highest in the league of all the London clubs in the top-flight this season. Mikel Arteta will have been disappointed to miss out on fourth place last term and we’ve been quite impressed about how he has ditched some dead wood and gone about rebuilding this Gunners squad. Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Viera are already two exciting new signings made by Arsenal this window and we do think they make more appeal than Spurs in this market considering the current prices. The main issue for Arsenal however, as with the last few years, is with their defence. If they can tighten up at the back and eliminate high volumes of personal errors, there’s no reason why they cannot compete with their London rivals with this current crop that Arteta is nurturing nicely.
Best of the rest
West Ham finished above both Tottenham and Arsenal in the 2020/2021 campaign and it could be argued that last season’s Europa League campaign slightly hindered their finishing position in the Premier League table. West Ham went on to reach the semi-finals of the Europa League last season, but this time round with full focus on their domestic business it would be no surprise to see them challenge for the top-six once again. 25/1 is on offer from BetVictor for those who believe they will finish as the ‘Top London Club’
Looking at the rest of the prices available, Crystal Palace are next in the market at 66/1, while Brentford (250/1) and Fulham 500/1 round off the betting.
