We've taken a look at the televised games from Saturday to Monday and offered our thoughts along with a correct score prediction for each one.
Premier League Gameweek 5 Correct Score Tips
Wolves vs Liverpool
- TNT Sports 1, Saturday 16th September 12.45pm
Liverpool put in their best performance so far on their most recent Premier League outing with a convincing 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Anfield. The victory had shades of the side from the title winning campaign of 2019/20 season with The Reds unbeaten so far this term having taken 10 points from a possible 12.
Wolves have performed better than many expected based on pre-season expectations, although they have only managed three points so far with their solitary win coming on the road at strugglers Everton. With players such as Dominik Szoboszlai adapting to life under Jurgen Klopp so quickly, Liverpool could quickly become the only potential title challengers to Manchester City, and I’m backing them to put in another strong showing at Molineux.
Anthony Eadson's Prediction: Wolves 0-3 Liverpool
Newcastle vs Brentford
- Saturday 16th September, Sky Sports Main Event, 5.30pm
In the final game before embarking on their European adventure, Newcastle face the difficult challenge of Brentford at St. James' Park. Last season they tanked the Bees 5-1 in an October meeting on Tyneside, but that proved to be an anomalous away result for Thomas Frank's side.
Since then on their travels, they've beaten Man City, Chelsea and Tottenham, as well as drawing with Arsenal and Brighton. The West Londoners have opened this fresh campaign by going unbeaten in four and we're hanging our hat on a score draw in Saturday's late kick-off.
Luke Hamilton's Prediction: Newcastle 1-1 Brentford
Bournemouth vs Chelsea
- Sunday 17th September, Sky Sports Main Event, 2pm
Chelsea fans came into the season with renewed optimism, with Mauricio Pochettino saying all the right things to dispel any doubts they had about his Spurs links. With another huge splurge in the transfer market, the Blues were supposed to be back in the big time in 2023/24.
Well, after a dismal 0-1 defeat at home to Forest last time out to compound a slow start to the season, Chelsea look as bad as ever and they needed the international break desperately. The tide has to turn at some point and with a win at Bournemouth crucial for the Blues to use as a springboard moving forward, I’ll side with them in a cagey affair. Another negative result would be catastrophic and although The Cherries have enough to trouble the visitors, expect a back to basics Chelsea performance to get them over the line.
Billy Grimshaw's Prediction Bournemouth 0-1 Chelsea
Everton vs Arsenal
- Sunday 17th September, Sky Sports Main Event, 4.30pm
Everton are already struggling massively in the Premier League this season and find themselves in the relegation zone with just one point from four games in the league. Arsenal on the other hand are fresh off a dramatic win against Manchester United at the Emirates and it's no surprise to see them as the favourites for this one.
These days it's a normal sight to see Everton down near the bottom and, whilst they're capable of putting in a good performance occasionally, I can't see this happening against one of the league's best teams. I'm expecting a win for Arsenal here but with it being a little bit spicy. Arsenal have conceded in three of their last four games in the league and with Goodison never an easy place to visit I can see the hosts getting on the scoresheet.
Steven McQuillan's Prediction: Everton 1-2 Arsenal
Nottingham Forest vs Burnley
- Monday 18th September, Sky Sports Main Event, 8pm
Few would have expected Nottingham Forest to be nestled in the top-half of the table after four games, above the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea, Newcastle, and Aston Villa. They were handed a tough start, suffering narrow defeats to Arsenal and Man Utd, either side of a win over Sheffield United. They've since stunned Chelsea at a bewildered Bridge.
Now back at the City Ground - where they've won their last four league games - Forest will be confident of grabbing the spoils against rock-bottom Burnley who are yet to register a point and have conceded a league-high 11 goals.
Jack Kitson's Prediction: Nottingham Forest 2-1 Burnley
