Nottingham Forest vs West Brom Predictions: Two Tips at the City Ground

After an action packed Easter weekend of football there’s still one massive game to come as Nottingham Forest host West Brom at the City Ground.

The home side have been flying at home since the return of the year, Steven Cooper’s men have played eight games in the Championship and have scored multiple times in all eight winning seven.

With Forest’s impressive goal scoring record at home the price being offered at 5/4 with various bookmakers certainly catches the eye and is a play I’m willing to get behind.

The Baggies away record ties in with this bet, like their opponents they have played eight times on the road in 2022 and have conceded two or more times on five occasions. Steve Bruce’s side face an uphill battle in terms of reaching a play off spot, with four games to play the West Midlands club are five points from a top six position.

Despite an ill tempered early afternoon clash against fellow promotion chasers Luton which saw double digits in terms of cards, no new injury concerns have been reported which is key for the hosts.

Young Welshman, Brennan Johnson has scored in six separate games in the eight they have played in Nottingham this year. The 20 year old is priced up at 3.25 to score on Monday night which seems a reasonable angle however I’m happy to add some cards to the mix which boosts the selection to 6.00.

Either side aren't afraid of receiving a booking, especially after the break. In the twenty one games Nottingham Forest have played at home they have been booked at least once eighteen times in the second half. 

This figure is even higher for the teams who visit them, nineteen of the twenty one sides who have played at the City Ground have been cautioned after the break.

West Brom have played twenty one games on the road which has seen them and their opponents pick up a caution in the latter stages on seventeen occasions.

With the importance of this clash on Monday night things could become fiery, either side will be desperate for the three points. Steve Bruce’s men will know this game could be the killer blow if they lose which will mean they miss out on the play offs. 

Seven out of the eight games has seen each side be carded in the second 45 in Nottingham Forest home games this calendar year.

After a disappointing performance on Saturday afternoon Forest will want to bounce back at home where they have been very strong, Cooper’s men have been the best side in the division for a long period of time now and I feel they will have a bit too much for the struggling Baggies.
