Nuno Espirito Santo’s side are winless in their last three Premier League matches after defeats against Brentford and Arsenal, along with a point against Bournemouth. The possibility of a points deduction still hangs over Forest but heading into the weekend they are currently two points above the relegation zone in 16th. For those looking to get a win for the hosts on-side on Saturday, 12/5 is available with most betting sites.
The winter break looks to have done Newcastle the world of good with wins over Fulham and Aston Villa since their trip to the Middle East. The Magpies played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with Luton at St James’ Park seven days ago and will be desperate to get back to winning ways and close the five-point gap to Manchester United in sixth. Newcastle currently occupy ninth in the top-flight standings and can be backed at 21/20 to get the three points in Nottingham.
Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle Tips
I’ve taken a lean towards two Sean Longstaff related punts on Saturday with the first of those coming from the player fouls market provided by bet365. Looking back at the midfielder’s foul stats in recent weeks and he has cleared this line in all his last six matches across all competitions for Newcastle.
In that period Longstaff has given away nine fouls with totals of: 2,2,1,1,2,1. This same selection is priced at just 4/11 with Sky Bet and considering his recent disciplinary record I feel the 5/6 available with bet365 holds plenty of juice.
I’ll also be taking a wild swing at a big price on Saturday and have taken a lean towards Longstaff to score and be carded at 46/1. The 26-year-old only managed one league goal last season but has increased his attacking output this time round already managing four top-flight goals this campaign as well as one in the Champions League.
Those four league goals have arrived in just 15 starts and it’s worth noting that they have all come against sides in the bottom half of the table in Luton (x2), Crystal Palace and Sheffield United. Longstaff has also been carded in five league matches this term, with this bet of him to score and be carded landing against Palace back in October. Longstaff managed a brace against Luton last week and I’m backing him to follow up with another goal and hopefully a card against Forest.
