Nottingham Forest vs. Burnley Betting Tips: Best bets for Monday Night Football
Monday night football arrives from the City Ground as Nottingham Forest take on Burnley live on Sky Sports. We’ve asked Anthony Eadson to scour the betting markets and provide us with his best bets.
Steve Cooper’s side only managed one win on the road last season but have already matched that tally in the 2023/24 campaign with a fantastic 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge before the international break. It was an Anthony Elanga goal that sealed the three points against Chelsea with The Tricky Trees having scored in all four league outings this season, which also includes trips to Manchester United and Arsenal.
Burnley have not had the start they would have preferred to life back in the top-flight. The Clarets have lost all three fixtures they have participated in so far and have conceded more goals than any other team in the division after their 5-2 home defeat to Spurs two weeks ago.
These two sides met in August in the League Cup with Burnley coming away 1-0 winners, however it is Forest who are the favourites to come out on top on Monday with 5/4 on show with most betting sites. The draw is available at 7/4, while a win for Vincent Kompany’s men can be backed at 15/8.
Nottingham Forest vs Burnley Tips
My main play on Monday evening is from the anytime scorer market where I’m getting behind Taiwo Awoniyi to find the net. There is quite a large discrepancy between prices from different bookmakers here, with Sky Bet going just 5/4 that he scores in the match, while Paddy Power and Betfair have a stand-out best price of 15/8 available.
The rather juicy offering of 15/8 looks too big in my eyes considering that after scoring against Manchester United at the end of August, the Nigerian set a new record for Forest of bagging in seven consecutive league matches. Awoniyi also became only the third African player to score in seven straight Premier League matches, joining Mohammed Salah and Emmanuel Adebayor in the exclusive club.
I’lll also be having a little tickle on Taiwo Awoniyi to score and Serge Aurier to provide an assist anytime in the match. As mentioned above, Burnley have lost all three matches so far and have conceded more goals than any other side despite having played a game fewer than 18 of the 20 teams in the division.
Serge Aurier has been given licence to get forward in this current system that Steve Cooper is deploying. The former Tottenham man has been regularly finding himself in the final third of the pitch and has already managed two assists so far this campaign. Backing Awoniyi to score and Aurier to assist pays 11/1 with Paddy Power via their Bet Builder feature.
