Norwich vs. Wigan Betting Tips: Oppose goals at Carrow Road

It's gameweek two in the Championship and we've got Tipster J on hand to provide us with a preview and his best bets for the early kick-off where Norwich host Wigan at Carrow Road.
Norwich are once again back in the Championship after just one season in the top flight, as they seek an instant return to the Premier League. However, Dean Smith will want a response from his side following their opening day 1-0 defeat away to Cardiff City in what seemed a feisty affair. After Both teams ended the match with 10 men, it was Cardiff who edged out winners after a strike from Romaine Sawyers.
Wigan set off on their travels for the first time this campaign, following a steady 0-0 draw in their opener against Preston. Leam Richardson’s side gave a good account of themselves to get off the mark on their return two Englands second tier, but will know an away trip to the title favourites proposes a whole different challenge. A season of survival would probably be seen as a success for the Latics, with Norwich only wanting to settle for promotion. Opposite season aspirations for these sides does not warrant the 4/6 on offer for the hosts, as Wigan can be a tough nut to crack for the Canaries.
Norwich vs Wigan Tips
- Under 2.5 Goals @4/5 – Betfair – 1pt
- Tendayi Darikwa to be carded @16/5 – Betfair – 0.5pts
I do think opposing goals is the way to go in this fixture. 4/6 on the hosts is something I just can’t get behind this early in the season, with so many question marks at this current time.
Wigan will certainly try and be tough to break down whilst playing on the counter attack at Carrow Road, and will look to build on that opening day clean sheet. The longer it stays goalless suits the away side here, with all the pressure on Dean Smith and his side.
A lack of cutting edge seems to be a slight concern for the Canaries, with them failing to hit the net in any of their previous 3 games – 2 coming in pre-Season. With everything pointing to a low scoring affair for this one, backing under 2.5 goals seems reasonable at 4/5 with most books.
With Matt Donohue on the whistle, it is always worth looking in the card market as he’s one of the more card happy Championship officials.
Makeshift Wigan Right Back Darikwa who usually operates as a midfielder looks the pick of the bunch. He found himself at full back last game where he was cautioned, and could be in for a tough afternoon if he gets the nod once again. He will be tasked with dealing with Milot Rashica who should thrive at this level. The tricky winger was fouled five times in Norwich’s opener, so backing his direct opponent for a card catches the eye. Furthermore, Darikwa was cautioned 13 times last campaign, and the step up to the Championship should only see him booked more frequently.
