Newcastle vs Man City Prediction: 4/1 Betting Tip, Team News & More
Newcastle and Man City clash at St James’ Park on Saturday evening, with the action live on Sky Sports Main Event at 5.30pm.
With Premier League leaders Arsenal not playing until Sunday, City have the chance to crank up the pressure by cutting the gap at the top to just a single point. Newcastle, meanwhile, are desperate to halt a two-match losing run and spark their league campaign back into life after a shaky start that sees them down in 14th.
Below, we break down our best bets for Saturday’s match.
Newcastle vs Man City Prediction
We’re keeping things simple for our first selection, backing Man City to win at even money with Paddy Power.
Newcastle away is never an easy assignment, but Man City head into this one brimming with confidence. The champions have won seven of their last eight in all competitions and dismantled Liverpool 3-0 in their most recent outing.
Newcastle, by contrast, have struggled to find any rhythm in the league. They’ve lost five of their 11 games, including four defeats in their last six.
Their record against City makes for grim reading too. Newcastle have failed to win 34 of the last 35 Premier League meetings, losing 28 of them.
Their boss, Eddie Howe, has endured a similar frustration, having gone 18 league games without a win against City (D2 L16) and has never beaten Pep Guardiola, losing 14 of their 17 top-flight encounters.
Erling Haaland has exploded out of the blocks with 14 goals in 11 league games, putting him miles clear in the Golden Boot 'race', for which he's already the overwhelming 1/20 favourite. His goal in the 3-0 win over Liverpool means he's now one goal off the milestone of 100 Premier League goals.
Haaland's goalscoring form this season has been utterly preposterous, notching 32 goals in just 20 games for club and country. He's only failed to score in two of those games.
Haaland has scored 2+ goals in an unbelievable 10 of those games, including braces against Italy and Estonia during the international break.
At 4/1 with Ladbrokes, Haaland looks a very tempting pick to register another 2+ haul on Saturday against a Newcastle side that have shipped six goals in their last two matches in 3-1 defeats to West Ham and Brentford.
