Newcastle came from 3-1 down to defeat West Ham 4-3 at home on Saturday and the Magpies, always a force to be reckoned with at St James' Park, will fancy their chances of following up when entertaining Everton.
Eddie Howe’s side have won ten of their 15 home league games this season and they may have the beating of the Toffees, who have gone 12 league matches without a success and are embroiled in a relegation scrap.
Everton’s last league victory came away at Burnley in the middle of December and, having fired blanks in four of their last seven road outings, they look vulnerable on their trip to the north East.
Newcastle have won four of their last five home meetings with Everton and there is every chance that they build on that with another St James' Park success.
Newcastle vs Everton Tips
Newcastle have lost only three of their 15 home league games this season and two of those defeats came against title-chasing duo Liverpool and Manchester City.
Having won ten of those 15 home league outings, the Magpies should be confident of adding an out-of-form Everton to their hit list.
The Toffees have gone 12 league games without a victory, suffering three straight defeats against West Ham, Manchester United and Bournemouth, and they are only three points above the relegation zone.
The injury situation is not a pleasant one for Newcastle while having Anthony Gordon suspended doesn’t help matters, either.
However, in Alexander Isak they have a striker full of confidence and they should have enough in reserve to tame the Toffees.
Sean Dyche’s side have failed to score in four of their last seven away league games and, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin struggling to convert, they may not pose much of a threat to the Magpies who are dominant on their own patch.
With Gordon suspended and Miguel Almiron an injury doubt, Harvey Barnes looks set to start and Newcastle’s tricky winger could be overpriced to open the scoring.
Barnes has missed much of the season through injury and he has been largely used as an impact substitute since returning to the fray in February.
However, the 26-year-old bagged a brace in Newcastle’s latest 4-3 win over West Ham, scoring twice despite being on the field for only 23 minutes.
Barnes has four goals in 14 appearances for Newcastle this term while he netted 13 times in 40 starts for Leicester last season. With confidence sky high, he may be able to bolster his tally against an Everton side that look like they are there for the taking and anxiously looking over their shoulders.
