Newcastle vs Chelsea Prediction, Odds and Betting Tips: Back Isak For Some Shots on Target

Newcastle host Chelsea in what is a rematch of last weekend's Premier League game, where it was Chelsea who came out on top. Both sides are looking to win their first piece of silverware under their current managers, so they will be desperate to reach the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.

This match kicks off at 20:00 on Wednesday night at St James' Park.

Chelsea came out as the winners over Newcastle last weekend in a thrilling game between the two sides. Both Chelsea and Newcastle tend to have exciting end-to-end games, and I expect this game to be the same.

Both teams should create multiple chances throughout the match, which should lead to multiple corners for both sides. In last weekend's clash, Chelsea came away with seven corners, and for my first tip, I am backing them to do something similar. Chelsea to get over 5.5 corners is priced at 6/5 at Bet365. 

Chelsea have secured over 5.5 corners in six of their last seven outings, consistently applying pressure in the attacking third. The only exception to this trend was their away match against Liverpool, where they came close but ultimately fell short, finishing with a total of five corners at Anfield. This near-miss highlights their generally strong performance in generating corner opportunities across recent games.

I am also expecting Newcastle to come up with plenty of chances over the course of the match. Chelsea's weak point right now is definitely their defence, and they concede many opportunities throughout the game. 

Newcastle's leading man up top, Alexander Isak, has struggled a bit this season; however, he has recently seemed to be returning to his usual quality. The Swedish striker scored a goal at Stamford Bridge last week and came away with two shots on target. The week before that, he came away with a total of four shots on target against Brighton.

If Isak managed to get two shots on target away against Chelsea last weekend, there’s every reason to believe he can replicate or improve on that performance now that he’s playing at home, so the odds of 7/4 for the Swede to get 2+ shots on target in this match seem very generous.
