Newcastle vs Tottenham: Three bets at what will be a rocking St James's Park

Live on Sky Sports, Newcastle host Tottenham this Sunday at St.James’ Park at 4.30pm. This is the hosts’ first game since Mike Ashley sold the club to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, a takeover that Newcastle fans are buzzing about. There is a lot of excitement around the club and the players will be eager to put in a huge performance in front of their supporters. Newcastle have not won a league game so far this season but could move out of the relegation zone if they beat Spurs in Sunday’s main event.
Newcastle vs Tottenham Tips
Nuno’s men have not had the best of starts to the season but they produced one of their best performances of the season in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa before the international break. They will be hoping to push into the European spots by leapfrogging Manchester United with a win here. An intriguing clash is on the cards here and I have you covered with my three best betting angles included in the preview below:
Team News:
Paul Dummett and Almiron are out for Newcastle while Willock, Wilson, Lascelles, Dubravka and Woodman are doubtful.
Ryan Sessegnon and Matt Doherty are out for Spurs while Sanchez, Lo Celso, Romero, Emerson and Ben Davies are doubtful.
Newcastle possible starting lineup:
Darlow; Fernandez, Lascelles, Clark; Manquillo, Willock, Hayden, Longstaff, Ritchie; Wilson, Saint-Maximin
Tottenham possible starting lineup:
Lloris; Tanganga, Rodon, Dier, Reguilon; Hojbjerg, Skipp; Lucas, Ndombele, Son; Kane
This game has all the makings of a high scoring encounter. Spurs have seen three or more goals scored in their last 4/4 Premier League games and Newcastle have seen this bet land in 4/7 league games so far this season. This bet also landed in their head to head meeting at St James’ Park last season. We are getting 4/5 on over 2.5 goals and I am happy to take it as our first bet for this game with a 1pt stake.
Oliver Skipp has picked up the most bookings for Spurs so far this season with four yellow cards in just five appearances in the league. He is averaging the second most fouls for Spurs this season and I can see him committing a tactical foul on the counter to pick up his fifth yellow card of the season. 4/1 looks a huge price and we will take it with a small 0.5pt stake.
Saint-Maximin is leading the assists leaderboard for Newcastle with three in seven games and will look to create for their front man Callum Wilson. Tanganga is averaging the most fouls for any Spurs player per game and has already seen two yellows and a red card this season so far. He is expected to line up against the tricky Saint-Maximin and I can see him bringing the Newcastle man down to pick up a card. Combining this double gives us a huge longshot @ 20/1 and I am happy to take it with a very small stake of 0.25pt.
